Finding one or two a day recently on my vegetable garden (outdoors, 30+ plants ) and one every so often on my master kush plants (two female, outdoors, containers, FF Ocean Forest, 8 weeks veg)

Those are the best pics I could take ....minimal damage on plants...I know I have aphids (pre-adults), already treating with fox farm don't bug me on those ....are these adults?

I mist my plants once a day to keep em clean and deter mites...

Its a damm Democrat, they buzz your ears, get stuck in your eyes and eat stuff you work hard for. But dont worry they will all be gone come November.

Maybe its thrip..fungus nats.....go to sierra natural science website, call them on monday and they will ask you send them a picture. They will identify it then give you the solution to fix it...they are awesome and very friendly.

lol OP is going to come back like WTF GUYS

Lol I was tripping out when I saw all the pics but appreciated the responses hah

I think they are midges, imma research those right now but the FF don't bug me has been working so I'm not too worried...

I know i have at least one aphid and then these black thongs in the pic...saw one on my plants and squashed it then sprayed last night ...gonna do it again in a few days...

The one in my pic probably isn't beneficial though right?

it is 100% a fungus gnat. Silly people always answer everything but the question smh

Lol I needed the laugh though so its all good

But a fungus gnat you say...any suggestions on how to prevent these guys from multiplying besides neem? Gonna research myself too

Thanks for the help

theres also winged aphids that look like that (same old aphid in a different style for different parts of the reproductive cycle) the winged aphids only lay a couple eggs before they die, then the next generations that hatch actually clone themselves to swarm your plant.

Read this shit. it's worth the time: http://ipmworld.umn.edu/aphidalert/alert3.htm

heres some pics of winged aphids, and a couple diagrams of their life cycleImage6.gifcyclePisum3.giflifecycl.jpgaphid-color-perception.jpg

note the last pic is not to scale, the aphid is like 2 mm long. (article is about aphid color sense to trigger return to their winter home plant species)

heres how you handle thhe buggers (and anything else that bites your plant)

in a saucepan on the stove, simmer

3 cups water
a large handful of peppermint leaves and stems
6 cloves fresh garlic finely minced (no powdered garlic! it doesnt work and clogs your sprayer!)
3 tablespoons (or more) cayenne pepper flakes

simmer for 45 minutes strain through a cloth (piece of old T-shirt works good) let cool and pour into sprayer add 1 tablespoon biodegradable dish soap, top off sprayer with water put on a dust mask and ski goggles (super important) and SPRAY EVERYWHERE!
wash hands thoroughly with soap before touching eyes mouth genitals or butthole (really really hot stuff)

it's non toxic (just spicy as hell) and washes off with water easily do not use on your buds unless you're a masochist. wash any produce before eating. and seriously, wash hands with soap before wiping your ass or holding your dick.

once a week will keep aphids slugs snails and whiteflies in check like a motherfucker.

Warning: may attract Hispanic, Thai, and Punjabi cuisine aficionados. do not store near salsa fixins or noodles and shrimp.

spray your foliage, keep it off your buds, dont spray soil. (its not good for your worms)

its comments like this that really matter. the last thing you want is your pot plants attracting people cuz of the spices you use.

I vote thrips or gnats...looks like an ultra skinny gnat...gnat's won't directly damage your plant...they just lay larvae in your soil that will sometimes snack on your roots...they are usually caused by overwatering, or standing water...the gnats you see around a leaky faucet or hanging around wet towels are fungus gnats...Really most gnats in your house that aren't on a piece of fruit are fungus gnats...they are easy to get and equally as easy to get rid of...all you have to do is water less often, and make sure everything has ample time to dry in between

nah its definitively a winged aphid. fungus gnats are quick little buggers that are really hard to catch. they are like mosquitoes only smaller.

winged aphids dont even really fly, they drift like thistledown onto your plants with the wind, and then pretty much just sit there like regular aphids.

thats an aphid.
