What temp does everyone decarb oil?

I notice that if I go over around 210 degrees F the oil starts to smoke a bit. I've seen youtube vids where rick Simpson says you can go up to 290f. If it's smoking a bit isn't that valuable thc and cbd burning into the air?

Compliments of Jump 117. I use 250F and watch the bubble production, to tell where I'm at time wise.

I decarb at 220 and look at the bubbles like Fade said. Today I actually decarbed my oil and it took roughly thirty mins for the little bubbles to stop. I did 2g of oil
 
Nothing should be smoking man..ever....even when you are boiling off thc it shouldn't be visible. Of course unless you are heating to its boiling point which is well over the suggested temps, its just evaporating away
None of this should be visible, I don't see anything come out the bubbles

So no I've never seen smoke from decarbing

Could always just be me I suppose.....I doubt it though

I have to assume your product is on the nasty side.. for example unrefined sunflower oil high in unsaturated fatty acids has a smoke point similar to your observations... with that in mind I don't think its possible for your hash oil to smoke at those temps
 
Yeah I agree with qwizo, I've never had my concentrate smoke when I decarb. I've looked at the bubbles burst and no smoke ever comes from it.. There is a smell in the air when I decarb but it smells like vaped bud to be honest.
 
Are you using an oven bosco? If so try preheating oven first. To come up to temp an oven heats much higher then settles once oven is up to temp.
 
I'm using a pancake skillet and a Pyrex pan. I always decarbed at about 180-200 and was fine. But I see on the graph that 230-250 will get more of a thc spike and when I tryed that I noticed a little bit of smoke Nothing crazy but it was there I wonder what was burning up. It happened twice. Both times were a few Gs of grinded bud. In 91% iso for about a min. Ran threw 2 different brown coffee filters and on the Pyrex for about two hrs at 180-200 or 1 hr at 230. I've done both..
 
Just a theory Hopefully Qwizoking can say if im right could it be the water in the iso boiling off causing steam?

Yea that seems plausible..water leaves last, he used something with a fair amount of water and he said it was real light..though its usually purged before you try to decarb, perhaps making that assumption was causing confusion..and smoke is kind of a strong word, again I assumed he meant a gray blue etc non transparent smoke with an odor correlating..
I could see it just being water vapor


Typically we use 95% ethanol and 99% iso(if available in your area)
While that may not seem like a lot of water it really is. Even using 99% hydroscopic properties and condensation add a ton. And I do see maybe half a cup per bottle of mainly water at the end of evap
 
Depends what your talking about
etoh is better to winterize
Iso makes a better extract...but that does have a lot to do with the "artist"
 
i decarb at 220-250. thats after i purge at like 165-180, low enough to not cause unregulated decarb, but high enough to easily purge the butane quickly.
