What strains are best suited for high temps?

Does anybody know of any good strains that will tolerate high temperatures?

I've heard the ideal temp is around 78 but it is difficult for me to maintain that especially in the summer. The area I am using heats up from 70-90 degrees right now while it is lit. On hot days though it gets to around 90 degrees outside and I live up north. So I figure there must be varieties of marijuana that naturally grow in climates that are regularly upwards of 90 degrees. I tried searching the forums and I found threads about hot grow rooms but I couldn't see anything about strains that may tolerate it better.

This is my first time growing and sort of an experiment, I started 5 seeds of different varieties. Super Lemon Haze is the largest so far, followed closely by Big Bud. Alaskan Ice and Brainstorm are comparitively much smaller, I'm not sure if they are stunted or what. Jorges Diamond got burned early when I put them all too close under the light.. oops I should have known better but interesting that only 1 out of 5 was noticeable damaged by it.

Ive heard durban will tolerate quite a bit of anything, thats best for outdoors though as it grows very tall. If your using lamps, you might try some tropical sativas which are kinda rare in the market because they dont have the desired early ripening. All strains will handle a little more abuse given CO2.

I'm using 400w MH conversion bulb right now. Thanks for the info but I would prefer to avoid plants that are especially tall since that will only bring them closer to the heat source.

Do what i do during the summer,Well i say summer the 20 hot days we have in the uk.But in the last week it has been hot so i put my lights on night time scedule during summer.I make sure that my plants are cloned round about april and put on 18/6 at night the temps drop and during the day lights out just fans on to keep plants at a steady 28/30.

Thanks, I just started from seed a couple weeks ago, so they are still small. The difference between the SLH and BB compared with AI and BS is a lot though. I understand that different plants of the same strain can end up very different from each other, so I have no way of really knowing if the difference in growth is due to the strains themselves or the individual plants genetics. All I know is at this early stage I kind of wish I had all SLH :)

Here's a couple shots of the SLH, she seems to be doing well so far, just starting her first set of 5 pointed leaves and I think the space between nodes is pretty good she is 8cm or about 3 inches tall.

Compared with these pics...

1. Brainstorm.. tiny but trying.

2. Alaskan Ice.. even tinier, looked gimpy from the start, took forever to crack so I helped it open with a very sharp knife, which I think damaged one of the first round leaves and probably contributed to its gimpiness.

3. Big Bud.. made it above ground before SLH but is now looking a couple days behind in growth but not bad.

Pick your strains to match your conditions. For high temps, you will want to get strains from the equator, as opposed to northern strains.

If you run an enriched CO2 environment then you can safely grow in that temp range. Actually you need a bit more heat for the extra CO2 to be used. So if you do that you can run nearly all strains at a higher temp.

I have had great success with Mandala seeds. First grow with them this year (Satori and Afri mix). Both are strong and vibrant, but the afris are turning into monsters.
