What size smart pot?

I cant decide on a 15 gallon smartpot or 20 gallon.

Does anyone have a picture of how big their plant got in either size. I know it depends on the strain too.

I'm looking at sensi seeds skunk #1, dutch passion frisian dew, and i was looking at dutch passion powerplant, but i think im gonna keep it at 2 strains, at least for the first grow.

How many plants do you plan to run? I used roots organic 707 soil in a 15 gallon pot and averaged a QP per plant last summer...all were about 5 feet tall and it was packed,too many plants in too small of a place but you should be able to get 4-6 oz no problem,jus have to water every day and top the plants 3 or 4 times...try and get them bushy rather than tall

The bigger the pot, the bigger the yield. A plant will only grow as big as its roots can handle. I personally use 50 gal pots, but many have moved up to 100 gal, which I trhink is a bit overkill personally. On my 50 gal pots last year I got aproxamately a pound to a pound and a half off of each plant, dried and cured. Around 6 ft. in height was the average for my 50 gal pots.
I did have a couple of smaller 20 gal pots with some oddball varieties that I grew also, but they only got around 3 ft. tall and the yield was less than 1/4 pound per plant. But they where also planted late in the season, Check out craigslist, I see smartpots on there on occasion. Its where I got mine.

I was gonna run 4 or 6 plants, it depends on which size smart pot i go with. But before i chose i wanted to see how big some other peoples plants got.

Depends on how big you want to grow them. If your only going to flip them at 1-2 feet tall, and finish with 2-4 foot plants... then big pots are overkill. The rule of thumb is to have a minimum of 1 gallon per foot or 1 gallon per month of growth. That is the minimum you want to be at. Double those numbers and you'll be good to go.

50 gallon pots is unnecessary, unless your planning on growing some HUGE trees. I grow 8-10 footers outdoors each season, and 30 gallon pots do the trick for me every year.

if you can you should plant in the ground. Save the money you woulda spent on pots and also get a larger yield

Where i am the soil is red clay.... Smartpots look like the best option.

100gl smart pots will grow trees. But even those are small by local standards. The norm up here now is 200-300gl.

I use 100gl smart pots & the produce really well

i agree with the bigger the better. 50 gal pots will get you 1lb plants if you do it right.

That stem is seriously impressive. I use 15, 20, and 30 gallon pots but I cut the bottom out and bury the bottom on the pots part way through the season so the roots can grow into big 5x5x3 holes. That's one of the best ways to grow IMO. I can veg indoors in the smart pots them move out into the ground. But I understand your clay soil problem.
