What should I do?

I am on my first grow, and in the beginning I decided I would chop the whole plant at once and hang it whole. Well I'm just over 8 weeks into the grow and the top half of the plant is ready for harvest. The top half of the buds have about 90% red hairs, but the bottom half is only like 30-40% red hairs. So my first question is if I cut the plant in half, will the bottom half still be able to grow and mature. And if that won't work should I just cut the whole thing down now. And the buds are too dense to cut off one bud at a time, so I don't want to go about it that way. What do you think RIU.

full chop tends to dry longer and slower (is what you want) it also starts the cure while drying. I like the full chop. and not the small chop you can if you want chop and then let the bottom grow another few days.. but really. a few days does nothing.

I've just done my first split harvest and it took longer than expected.
I took the top off expecting to take the rest down a week later but it ended up being nearly two.
My theory is that the shock of the first cut slowed it down a few days.
Also, because I was already flushing, lack of nutes must have slowed it down.
