What Light to Use?

I have a Gl60 tent, and currently using cfls, I am going to switch to a hps on the next one, but was wondering what watt to go with? I figure the higher the better but with an area that is 2'x2'x5'3", I know heat can be an issue. Any Suggestions would be highly appreciated.

If you use your 2' x 2' tent (4 square feet), a 250 watt HPS light should be plenty for you.

That small? 400W is my suggestion, but I am still new at this, and use CFL's so far. I too will be upgrading to MH/HPS on my next grow.

400w is the minimum I would consider unless you're talking about supplemental lighting. The heat from a 400w HPS light can easily be exhausted from a 2x2x5 room (20 Cubic Feet) with a 4" inline fan. That will exchange your air a ridiculous 6 times a minute without a carbon filter and thus eliminate your heat issue.

I would say 400 is to much, I had a 400 hps in a 2x2x4 room with a cooltube a 4' vortex fan sucking air out still way to much heat could not get my room under 85 degrees with lights on. Id go with the 250 watt hps just my 2 cents.

you should use no less than 15w of hps to 25w hps for each square foot. with a 2 by 2 (4 square feet) tent id use a 250w hps and that should be enough light to produce nicely

anything over 200w and you will have to vent, i would use 400hps but good ventilation will be essential.
