What kind of filter should I use? Help please!

Hi guys!
I am growing for the first time and wonder what kind of filter I should use. I am growing three plants in my bath room which is around 10 cubic meter. there is an exhaust fan but the only way to get in air is from under the door, less than 1.5 cm. Is that air enough? I can't make any holes, its not my apartment.
I was thinking when I start the flowering period I could turn of the exhaust during the night and close the door. Is 10 cubic meter enough for the plants during night?
then I would turn the exhaust on during the day when I can have my bathroom door open. But then will the smell fill my apartment or is the exhast fan strong enough to suck in the air from the bathroom before the air enters the other rooms?
Finally I don't know if there is any filter that does not have to be attached to an exhaust fan, since the door will be closed at night and if the fan with the filter would be on all the air would get sucked out and nothing left for the plants.

I am confused and need help!
thanks
:peace:

AZ... I am not sure I understand your question..

1 - it is impossible to suck al the air out of a room... fresh air will come in through cracks and under doors etc..

Are you talking about adding a carbon filter to your grow? To remove smell or just adding an exhaust fan to remove heat? WHere will the "old" air go?

Aloha Garden Knowm,
I am confusing myself and everybody else I think.

1.
I want to get rid of the odor = I need a carbon filter, (ok this one makes sense)
2. My bathroom is 10 cubic with an exhaust fan (this one I can actually see)
3. There is no intake fan only a gap of 1.5 cm under the door where air can enter ( I see this one too)
4. Right now I am in week 3 and the light is on 24 hrs, it gets hot in the room so I keep the door open ( this one I feel, it's 29 C in there)
5. When I start flowering I will have to close the door so no light gets in
during the 12 hrs dark period (this one just makes sense)
6. But when the light is on 12 hrs I will have to keep the door open just like now so the plants don't die out of heat stress.

Now to my questions
1. Will the plants get enough air through the 1.5 cm gap under the door during night? ( I don't want them to suffocate)
2. If I leave the door open during the 12 hours light period, will the carbon filter attached to the exhaust remove enough odor or will some of the odor leave the open door and enter the rest of the apartment? In other words does it have to be a closed system for the carbon filter to be able to remove the odor?

Does any of this make sense? Or did I confuse you more?
:peace:

Hello AZ...

Plants don't need fresh air a night... they use CO2 during the day.. when the lights are ON... yippie.. problem 1 solved

WHEN THE LIGHT is ON,
yes the crack on the door will be enough air COMING into the room.. if there is an exhaust BLOWING air out of the room... ideally you would have a BIG CARBON FILTER to eliminate all odors... and blow them out of the BATHROOM exhaust vent..

or you can just run a carbon filter with an exhaust fan sitting on top of the filter in the room.... if the carbon filter is big enough, it will remove all odor...

ONLY when the scubber/fan is ON.. there will be some odor when it is off...

are you in Hawaii?

A good inline fan and carbon filter can be pricey..$700+ for the pair... but it is worth the peace of mind.. a carbon filter lasts about 9 months...

Got all my questions answered, thank you!
I lived in Hawaii for six years and just moved to Australia.
