What kind of deficiency is this

Week 4 of flower.
Runoff ph 6.0
Runoff ppm 1100

My last feed was 1000ppm 5.8 ph going in.

Using advanced nutrients. I’m curious if this is over feeding or a deficiency. I heard I probably want to up my base nutrients as I am only feeding 50% strength but if I increase my base my ppm will increase drastically.

I wouldn't increase nutes. I think you may be high. Your numbers are all good...but that bronzing along the edge. Seen it with very light overfeeding. The other leaf...I don't know. If I'm right and there is some blockade nutrient interaction going on...it's very early.

My plants do great at much lower ppms then that...so that's my personal approach right now. Keeping it low to eliminate any hint of overfeeding issues. Works for me.

As mentioned, I would look at your pH...5.8 is a bit low for a promix grow. I would confirm your pH going in...be sure it's where it needs to be for your grow. You may simply be locking out nutrients based on this fact alone.

When I talked to advanced nutrients they said increase base nutes but just feeding at 50% strength my ppm is around 900-1000. They said they are hungry but I feel like they are burnt idk
Those guys are really nice ro talk to but crazy about how much fert to use. I agree, it doesn’t look like they are hungry. Maybe a pH issue but AN touts. “pH perfect” right on the label. With my water it works, both in tap and distilled. And they are very adamant on the phone about not needing to adjust pH. I find that hard to believe given all the possible variables. What is your water source and ph before nutes?
Is it on all the plants? Could it be wind burn? More specifics on nute mix? Are you using Grow, Micro, Bloom? What other stuff B52, Overdrive? What lighting?

I wanted to backtrack a bit. CannaCountry's comment about ph was spot on. Not that familiar with promix plus they market a bunch of stuff. But 6.2 to 6.4 might be better. I don't usually get concerned with a few 10ths...but at 5.8, you are quite a bit off.

Couple other things I thought I'd mention. There are several scenarios where a nutrient burn may occur even without massive doses.

One is if the soil gets very dry and you give a strong feed...the plant sucks it all up right away because it's thirsty (dry). Best to give a bit of water first to get the plant re-hydrated...and then feed.

The other scenario is with strong lights maybe too close. The top leaves are transpiring like crazy to keep cool...and then you do a strong feed. It all gets sucked up to the rapidly transpiring leaves and burns them.

Anyway...something like that may have happened...just popped into my head because I just watered a really dry plant...

I use ro water to mix my nutrients. It’s not on all plants just some but eventually it will happen to all of them. I have two fans in the grow tent I don’t think it is wind burn. Using Sensi a+b, big bud, bud candy, rhino skin, etc. basically full lineup.

Our nutrients really do best closer to full strength, we test on Cannabis plants and design our guidelines around that, it could be a mild deficiency.

Ppm sometimes becomes pseudo science unfortunately in the case of cannabis growing.

An EC/PPM meter really only measures dissolved salts in the water. Even between 2 different nutrient brands may have different quality inputs that get absorbed by the plant differently. So a 1000ppm value for example between different nutrients could mean something night and day. Not only that, but different strains have different nutrient needs etc..


Our pH perfect line complicates this further due to a lot of non-salt components, like Amino Acids, Humic Acid etc… So unfortunately, ppm is not a good indicator of strength, which is why we don’t have it on our charts.

I;m gonna refer you to an RUI oldtimer.
@OldMedUser He uses AN nutes and is a very experienced and competent grower. If he doesn't reply...pm him. He will have an opinion. lol

I'm with JohnDee in post #6. I have good results with less ppm's than you are using. I would rather feed light and wait for a yellow leaf
