What kind of air cooled hood reflector is better.

Using a 400CFM fan for only the lighting system i can get my reflector within 1 inch of the tops.

take a joint and let the smoke run along the edge of the glass and watch how much sucks into the hood and out. if you are using the hood in a co2 enriched room, or you are using 20+ hoods like i do then you can have a huge smell and co2 leak in a room that is supposed to be sealed. my main point is they have a shitty seal and leak like crazy, and don't kid yourself EVERYTHING is made in china lol

Couldn't agree with you more. We run 4 Blockbusters in our veg room and they're great. I put the light meter to them and the lighting footprint is very even. The seal is wonderful and they're quite easy to clean.

that was the very first thing i checked after i inserted the lamp, and my magnum had no leaks, if yours did, take it back it, is under full warranty.
i used a white chimney smoke pellet to check the four at the same time once they were all connected and up and running. and i had no leaks.
i used the first one for 2 months and was impressed so bought another three, i have four 1000w hps with the hoods in a 10 x 6 room and the even light spread is amazing, compared to my last hoods which were made by a firm called venture lighting and i had 6 x 600w to get the same even spread.
and the magnums are a lot cooler too.
more space in the hood, less time to heat.

A hood will always give you significantly better light spread than a tube. The footprints in tubes are notorious for only covering a very specific area. Ideal for small closets, poor for everything else.

if you do have a hood that leaks, seal it with a bead of good grade clear silicon, this will seal it, a decent silicon can take very high temperatures and when you need to change a lamp is very easily removed with a sharp blade.
make sure the silicon you use smells of acetic acid (vinigar) if not do not use it.
