OK.... If you get 1.25 GPW... And your plants veg for 16 weeks...
and Bloom for 14 weeks... you did good at 1.25 for your 30 week grow....1200 watts so you got in 30 weeks = 1500 grams....
During that time, [I get .6 grams per watt]
I did 8 week veg 7 week bud... two complete harvest for your one... so my .6 = 1.2 over your time = 1440 grams for my little .6 per watt grow...

It's all good...

I've convinced people on other forums to calculate their efficiency with the true measure, grams per kilowatt hour, but I don't think I'm going to get anywhere trying that here. Too many people. Finally, someone that makes some sense here. Grams per KWHr used through the entire grow is the only measurement that makes any sort of sense if you want to compare yield/efficiency.

Grams per KWhr takes all variables into account, like for instance it doesn't matter whether you're running 24/0, 20/4, 18/6, 16/8, 12/12. Nor whether you veg for 3 weeks or 3 months. Bottom line is how many KWhr's you used to get the final weight. It would (should) also account for things like fan, exhaust, air conditioning usage etc.

Problem with this measurement is that most people have no clue what their actual KWhr usage is for their grow op. Going by a hydro bill doesn't break down what is being used for the grow op only, unless you had some history and it was consistent over a period of time. Even then, bills don't start/end on your cycle start/end. Metering every device used, then logging the usage by device throughout the grow would be the only accurate way to determine your grams/KWhr. Too much work, likely why we continue to see this grams/Watt being used, even though it has no valid accuracy.

GPW used to mean: grams per watt per month. I need to correct what i posted earlier, it didn't(even back in the days) include veg time. I went back and read some shit that proves that part of my previous post was wrong......woops.

i pretty much said the same thing a few posts back. it all depends genetics first and foremost.

Breeders used to give that # and mean under a 600w. Maybe it still means that?
Breeders yield numbers are worse than growers gpw numbers, they're all bullshit numbers that dont tell you anything. Excluding equipment, how much does an oz cost you to produce(electric, nutes, water), thats the only number that really means anything, well that and is it an oz of big bud or is it an oz of fire.

Indoors coco drain o waste head formula

all bills nutes coco etc comes in around $30 a zone which isnt the greatest but it beats the 350 people want for their mediocre mids.

Yes, I agee that those #'s don't mean jack shit except.....we would compare those #'s between strains from the SAME breeder, just to try to score beans with the largest yield we could possibly get. Hence big bud. Ohhhhhhh big bud! We killed it for like 6-7 yrs with that strain! The pheno we had(which there was/is? many) fizzled out after about 5yrs. We went on a killer vacation and got some new beans. Rocked the new pheno we had for another couple years. Than the big book of buds came out. Picked some new huge yielding strains, went on vacation to amsterdam again. I really miss those days!

That's the dutch growers who were all growing sog style. They were doing per area. Not having anything to do with light or power... Best measurement is per plant or plant average. Veg time, genetics, grow method, environment, grow medium, nutes, etc... Are all factors in yield. Then lighting..

Ed Rosenthal wrote in the Big Book of Buds Vol 1 in 2001:
"The yields suggested here assume that indoor gardens are receiving at least 600 watts per meter (wpm) where no light wattage is indicated"

Well in that case... Based on what I pay per month in electricity plus nutes and whatever random shit happens.

I'm at $3 - $5/ gram. Is that a better number? Rounded up.

Green Crack 3 months figured for entire grow. Since I go straight into flowering once harvested.

~$300/ month for Elec
Plus I added $100 for random shit.

(300 x 3) + 100 = 1000
( 8 * 28 ) / 1000 = 4.46/ gram

Obviously this is a loose number minus start up cost for tent and lights and what not. Is this a better measurement?

Oh that elec estimate would include Veg lights too. And it is averaged with Summer (A/C)
-----$250 in winter vs $350 in summer.

Id say my average is .7ish per watt, Ive had upto 1.1-1.2 gpw and exactly as mentioned above, it is strain dependent mostly with veg times altering yields. My avatar pic was my highest yield, not the most potent :)

Now see, with all the proper info, along with the gpw amount, we can compare apples to apples. Which, btw, the clone only bluedream (if you can get your hands on the real deal) has the potential to pump out much more than that. More like 1gpw grown like that. Who's bluedream was that?
I got it from a local grower who said he drove to cali to get it. I also have HSO blue dream from seed. 2 completely different plants. HSO is shorter, with fatter leaves. I'm guessing indica pheno. My other that I call platinum blue dream is tall, lenky, long branches. The high is ALOT more heady, creative with her. sativa pheno im guessing.
I'm still a new grower & learning the plants. I've kept the platinum because she just seems special to me.

That to me still counts as veg time unless your buying clones and then you getting ripped off,... and the mother still costs someone grams per watt. Its flower watts vs. what you bag up, and it has nothing to do with if the strain is dripping diamonds. Gpw. :p

Agree, and it also depend on strain, and how long time in flowering it need to finish, 1 g/w don't tell me much about how much total watt there have been used, big different between a 7-8 week Indica and a +14 week´s Sativa
