What is this chord?

I have two different apps and I cannot name this chord. I have it as an eb but that's from the picker that showed it to me.

That is a Cm7

Here's a stupid question....I don't read music AT ALL....I'm more of a wannabe vocalist so I do everything by ear....when I plug Cm7 into the song I'm playing, it doesn't work...so I thought I'll google the song....B and Bb as those suggestions don't work either....see in my mind I should be able to chord Cm7 six ways to Sunday up the neck and still have it work...Face on the Cutting Room Floor the chorus.....I'm not saying your wrong so please don't take offence I really do want to identify this chord.

That's probably because it's an alternative finger position.

Yes, you can put that fingering all over the place, also play it as a bar chord anywhere. But it's a minor, more for melodic slow stuff.

are you in major or minor as a root? what's the 1 of your 1,3,5 progression?

I'm in A but with the capo at the second playing G...you know it's fucked for me to explain to trained musical people because, while I know about the Nashville number system, applying it is, like reading music to me...I can't think 2212221 fast enough.....but I can change keys like no tomorrow using my method...I did go to the link you provided, punched in the notes....will have to scrutinize it better....geez I thought this was going to be a piece of cake...I do appreciate the time...

Looks like the D form one fret up, D sharp or E flat. Your mileage may vary.

it's not nashville it's the real music theory. I don't want to confuse the living hell out of you but check this out for a second. you say you're in A major the scale is A Bm C#m D E F#m G#dim. Looks rough huh?but it's easy to figure out your scale using intervals. whole whole half whole whole whole half.

trust me put a little time in and it's as easy as writing cursive when we were 7yrs old.
but you aren't in A because you capo at 2nd fret you're in B if you're playing the fingering of an Amaj. the guitar is actually in F# but the song is in B.using the intervals your 1,3,5 is

thats why your Cm7 didn't sound right, it's dissonant or using notes not from the Bmaj scale. Rory is right but searching for harmonic notes, much less triad chords takes forever and stagnates the writing process. 3-6 months studying music theory will open your imagination by tenfold.don't use nashville yet. that's for more advanced players, mainly impromptu jam bands and walk ons. 'hey guys let's do mustang sally' how does that go again? it's easier than you think and no need for a teacher.

Edit. Never mind I just noticed your using a capo so I'd have to read all of that to reply

If you are looking at from the standpoint of Eb its an eb/G
meaning an eb with a g in the bass.

The root being eb on the second string

The capo is on the second fret and I play in G according to my cheat sheet it is a 1,4,5...I slide from the D into this mystery chord and add the 5th fret D string with my pinky.
Is it like an oddball chord or something...I mean I punch the notes in and I still can't find that chord shape with a name attached to it.
I watched the video about the determining chord progressions....I will have to watch that more than once....I am so used to figuring songs out by finding the root bass note and going from there....mind you most of what I play is pretty straight forward....so I figure out a tune then change the key for me. I will try to figure this out so I can at least appear to have an intelligent conversation about music. Lol thanks again.

Yes I did...only play the first 4 strings.....I'm going to stay with calling it Eb...but I'll add the G in the chord..The guy that told me this was a Eb couldn't walk between sets, but put that guitar in his hands and it was like an extension on his arm...fascinating!
