Im am currently on my third grow i am growing 36 plants under nine 600 watt hps lights i am suing soil synthentic nurtient line and i water them twice a week and give them nutrients once a week. I have been reading alot of different things of what i could of done wrong like some people say nute nute water others say change your nutrient lines or go to 1000 watts im just a little confused of what i can change to make bigger colas. I am also growing indoor with organic soil also my temperature is great. Please anyone with some great advice let me know or if you have a great recipe that i need to change let me know. Also my branches and stalks are not too strong I had to tie alot of them on this crop.

Some pics would be nice...no idea what size colas you're getting ...I'm sure with that many plants, you're getting a lot of different phenos....9 - 600s should be giving ya some good stuff....I personally grow under 1 400w, 5-6 plants at a time, in 4 " pots, feed'em every watering during veg & flower and get nice colas...with that many lights and plants, you can try different things if you think you could be happier....

That's a lot of lights, 600w are fine if you are using that many. Growing in soil, there is no better system than SubCool's Super Soil https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/44686-subcools-super-soil.html This guy has grown some of the best cannabis in this country and can be found on this website, youtube, High Times and he has a blog on Advanced Nutrients magazine called Rosebud his soil recipe is sooooo easy all you do is mix up some soil and amendments let it sit for 30 days then pot your plants in it and add water, no other nutrients are really necessary.

My ph is between 6.0 to 6.5 my lights are in the right spot. My feeding schedule that i use is from the soil synthentic website i just folllowed the chart that they had, my pots are 5 gallon pots and my air flow is great.

1. air
2. good ph stable 0 ppm water with proper proportion of nutes
3. red and blue wave-band lights
.
.
.
4. space to grow

I did get some great plants on some of them but more than half dont look that great mostly small nugs all over the plant. I will try to post pics later im at work now. Also i have great space in my room its like 14x20 room. There is one thing that i was thinking of changing is that i used hps through my whole grow. I used it in veg and flower do you think that i should change to metal halide in veg then swith to hp in flower.

your ph seems a little low to me possibly locking out some nutes, i grow in organic soil and try to keep ph around 6.8 to 7 and i have consistently good yields.
whats your average yield per plant with your current set up ?

To be honest with you, i recently changed my veg room to 600w MH used to be 600w HPS and i didnt notice much of a difference

I honestly cant tell you right now im going to harvest in two week but most likely it going to be 2 to 2 1/2 per plant. I have 3 plants that look like they are going to give me 4 to 5 ounces they have like 7 to 8 colas on each plant but alot of them look like 1 1/2 to 2 1/2.

So next time prune about the fifth or sixth node to get four main colas. Wish you had some pix. 5400W is a lot of power and you want to get maximum ounces/grams per watt. Mb it would make a nice scrog and that may give you more yield. I wouldn't worry about the size of the colas just the cost efficiency of energy output verses return on investment.

Your PH should be 6.7-6.8 for soil. That's my experience.

Yes
The MH will help your plants grow a little faster in veg. The main thing is the blue light spectrum promotes leaf growth. So in Veg you want leafs to grow. The MH will help your plants produce more foliage in the same amount of time. Meaning your plants will be healthier and have more "solar panels" to produce buddha. It will also be a cooler light so not as much heat is produced.
The HPS will promote internode growth with it's reddish light spectrum. Which means promoting bud growth. So flowering needs to be HPS and veg MH (you can get good growth with T5's too 6500k+ light spectrum at least, much less expensive and less elec use.)

To grow Big dence buds you first must have good genetics, then provide proper eviroment. I have to wonder what your room temps are? Are you running c02?
proper room temps without c02 lights on 76 max and 82 max with c02. No co2 last 2 weeks of flower and room temp should be cooler last two weeks. Humidity mus be controlled, to high rh and plants cant transpire water and will slow thier growth and if you do grow large buds leads to mold problems and bud rot. To little RH and plants close thier stoma to save themselfy from drying out and once again stop growing. Plants must be able to transpire water, oxegen and takein C02 to compleat photosythisis. This is why good ventilation is esential indoors. Need to blow air across the leaves to help with resperation. All these factors must be right for the plant to grow at optimum rate and therfore grow bigger buds.

Now what can we do to manage for larger buds? We can use uncle ben's topping method for 4 main branches and them prune lower sucker branches off bottom of plants , this will put more energy into the head buds on end of the branches. the lower portions of these branches should be pruned also.
How long are you vegging for? how big are plants
I have a strain that does best just let to grow on its own with out topping. Still do lower prunning. I get lots of 6-10 gram(dry weight) buds
