What is the proper way to post an independent product review here?

I just got a message that my entire thread was deleted because it was considered as "advertising".

I just wanted to make an independent customer review of a new light for the benefit of anyone interested to read it.

I am not an employee of the company in question and I do not benefit from them for making a review.

I understand that some manufacturers with threads here are allowed because they pay for advertising. But is there a place for independent customer reviews?

Is it Jungle Water? The Jungle Water guy shows up ever now and then and everybody like to get mad at him.
 
nope. It's a cool, new high-tech LED light.

I see some other threads for some other LED light companies that appear to be independent reviews so I thought it would be great to share my review with the forum, too. But, somehow, I must have missed the fine print or something? Anyway…I have made a couple of inquiries to the administrators and I await a response. I just thought I'd also ask here in case someone else might know what to do to get a review up without it getting deleted as "advertising".
 
Doesn't sound like very many tit's involved, I'll pass but good luck. And if you see the Jungle Water guy tell him CC says Hi.

i would like to respond to this after read your thread.
your thread was not a review, we often have lots of reviews on here your thread was sketchy it was every single informative piece written as if you were from the company yourself.
or told to write it that way, and often companies will do that on here its interesting to me you state that " youre not an employee and you do not benefit " thats exactly what everyone says when they do benefit you wrote it as if you were marketing the piece

if youre going to write an actual customer review do it , but dont write a review like a owner of a company who can suddenly just answer every single marketing and specific detail of the light in question.

you basically wrote it like a brochure to rope people into buying the lights,
when real people review things its much less in detail and doesnt have that sellers spin on it

I apologize if I came across in any kind of way. I was gathering as much information as I could. I am excited to be an early reviewer of the light. Any information that was posted was trying to focus on all the things that I see get asked about these types of lights in other threads. I can assure you that my intentions were not meant to be sketchy at all. Nobody told me to write that way, but I did have to ask the light-people for some technical information. For example: Someone asked "what current" the lights were on… I didn't know, so I asked another person and then reiterated the answer on the thread. But how else could I have answered the question if I didn't ask the people who knew? Can you give me an example of what would have been a more appropriate way to make my own review? Thanks.
 
Maybe if the light thing doesn't work out too well you could look up the Jungle Water guy and see if he needs help.
 
I would also like to point out that I have never done a review before, but I have read them. I thought mine was pretty on-track with what people would like to know about the light in question. I smoked a few bowls and started typing. I meant no harm. I was only trying to be helpful. Sorry if I sound like one of those people you described. I'm not.

Try using it...then reviewing it. You reviewed a purchase transaction, not a product.

But the facts are that I don't work for this company. And my intention WAS to make a review whether or not you perceived it that way.

I am 56 years old. No one tells me how to write. Your insinuation suggests that because I said I wasn't an employee, that it meant (to you) that I really AM an employee?

So, if I can't answer the questions and give out accurate information, then it would be a better review? I was trying to make it a point of being as specific about the light as I possibly could be. If I couldn't be specific, then how would it make sense for me to make a review to begin with? If I don't know how to answer a question about the light, then I ask someone who does and then relay that answer. What else can I do if I don't know? I would be hard-pressed to find anyone in this particular sub-forum who didn't know way more than I do about LED lights, so I wanted to be as accurate and informed in my responses as I could be.

But I'm not a seller. That fact is easily verifiable. I am just a customer -regardless of how you perceived my style of writing. I can't rope anyone into doing anything. I don't have that kind of power. People do what they want to do based on the information they are presented. I just wanted to present accurate information.

Well, I just got the light and was trying to start out what I had hoped would be an ongoing review with more information added as time went by. If the light burns out, then I would have added that. But, as of now, fresh out of the box, this is what I've got. That's where I was coming from.

That's what I was going to ask next. I guess that's the route I will take. But damn, that was a lot of effort to make that thread and a lot of good information about a cool new light is now down the drain. I don't see how that is a benefit to anyone. But, yeah…grow journal maybe.

Okay, but the purchase transaction IS part of the customer service aspect and so from that standpoint, in order to include that in my review, I would have to start out there…right? And how long would I have to use it before I could comment on it's performance? What if I have it a week and notice that the plants are really liking it? Can I comment on it, after a week of using it? Or, should I wait a year? Or maybe something in between a week and a year?
