What is the color temp of this cfl ?

I actually was trying to figure out the same thing last night. With the GE bulbs there is a serial number at the bottom, if it ends with a D its daylight, if it ends with SW its a soft white. Unfortunately Walmart doesn't give this information on the site, nor does it show in the photo. My best suggestion is to go out and buy something you can actually pick up and see for yourself, and remember that the GE bulbs have a serial on the ballast that should give you an indication of the color.

No, the ballast is built on to the bulbs -- I've linked a photo of what I mean. The area with the writing on it is the ballast and where you should be able to find the serial.

Edit: As for the lumens, my 24 watts are 1,600 lumens so I'd estimate around double that.

it says "Same quality of light as Soft White bulbs" does that mean its a 2700K "bloom" light?
I think thats what we determined last night at the store and how we figured out the difference between the serial numbers.

i assume 'bloom' means flowering. 2700k and below are for flowering. over 5000k is for vegging.
6500k is awesome for vegging, 2100 is awesome for flowering, budding.
the lights I found like the one you showed are all in the 2700-2900k range, with @2800 lumens. you need a minimum of 3000lm per sq. ft.
if you have a 3x3 sq. ft. grow area you'll get about 310lm per sq. ft., so you'll need about 10 of those lights.
when I first started, I used 3x12w cfls, lol. bumped that up to 1x400w MH, 1x400w HPS, 1x360w HPS...
I start with the MH, then add the 400w HPS, then swap the MH for the 360w HPS.
max lumens for my veg stage is 5530lm psf. max lumens for flowering is 7860lm psf.
after the cfls, I tried some 500w mercury vapor, cost me about $100 us each, bought 2...they're worthless, but better than any tiny cfl!
don't cheat yourself...buy, at least, 1 HPS, 150w -400w. and it would be nice to have a MH conversion for vegging, but a HPS will work for that...
if you ain't got the $ now...save it. if you gotta grow right now....start with whatever, but before too long, upgrade!
P.S. I should clarify, got the MV bulbs between the cfls and the HID's...

you could do much better...in short, whatever you don't spend now...you'll probably end up spending on weed, since you probably will only harvest a small fraction of what you hope for.

you can get 20 42w 2700K cfls and the plug in adapters for like 200.00.. Thats 54,000 Lumens.. BUT its also 840 watts.. And I thought cfls were energy effecient lol.. I see alot of ppl w/ alot of cfls.. That many has to raise your electric bill...
