What is the best way to remove bird poop from plants?

Have a few bird droppings on plants what would be a good way to keep birds away or remove?

A spray bottle and a gentle hand. Place something under the area to keep it from washing down the leaf and onto other parts of the plant. Bird poop is some toxic crap< no pun intended, and contains more bad than good for sure.
