what is the best way to dry?

I have been reading up on harvesting and have found many different ways people harvest.

  1. I have heard that you cut all the fan leaves and larger leaves and hang the entire plant upside down. This is suppose to take longer but produce a better smoke.
  2. I have also read that you cut each branch off the plant and trim properly before hanging each branch upside down.
Does either way produce a different smoke, or is it a matter of preference?

Thanks. Godspeed

I had a lil help from a previous grower,,we pulled it out,,gave it a good haircut first,,,and then chopped her down low,,and I actually had the patience to let it hang for almost 2 weeks,,then I re-chopped,,and glass jarred,,,It is so smoothe right now,,can't wait till later:joint::hump:

Individual branches...less chance of mold and they dry faster.
The quality of the buds is developed in the curing.

I've never tried water curing, but some people try that...

I have also heard that you dont want direct air on the drying buds, but you can keep your exhaust fan going to keep the air fresh, is that true? Hole- you do hang the entire plant then? I have seen this done and smoked the final product, it was good. Damn JB that is awesome!! How do you like the Big Bud strain? Does it taste nice?

Yes, keep the exhaust fan going...no smell, like a huge
bud dryer. I also used this real bud dryer. I liked the
cab better.

It was Blueberry...The stuff that cured properly tasted
very sweet.

it is pretty good,,better than I expected,,every ad says medium high,,I did not keep a fam going,,but the area it dried in was a cool dark room,,with moving air,but no fan directly on plant,,I chopped it from the bottom, and hung the HoLE thing,,,and periodically pulled the cola buds apart a little,,so no inner mold would happen,,,got 5 and a bit good ounces off a 4 foot plant

Keep on Growin

This was my most chrystalized BB...I miss her smoke:blsmoke:

I got the herb dryer on ebay, about $150...most of the
cost was in the filter, prevents any smell and worked well.
Wow. That is beautiful. I cant wait to be able to grow buds like that. You should frame that pic. lol.

That is awesome. I was wondering if that is a better way to dry only because I have read many times on here that people dried their buds out too fast and it was real harsh. I guess either way so long as you dry slow.

HoLE 2 weeks drying sounds like a lot of time to hang.
Did your buds take that long to crisp up? or what did you judge the amount of time with?
I put mine in a large box and it seemed to be to be crispy on the outside in less than 2 days so I put it in a jar.

But is seems now I should have left it hanging longer its been in the jar for 10 days with me burping the jar and still smells like hay. but if I squeez the buds the dank smell is there but not for long.

Dude, I thought some people like the dank, soft buds that are sticky....

I thought crisp buds = bad
