What is safe to clean hydro stuff with?

Ok I had an issue where Ph was continuously rising and I think I found the problem. Now I need to clean the funk that was growing on probes air stones and walls of the buckets and circulation pump. Whats safe to use?

I know a grower who just soaks his gear in hot water then wipes it down, but I prefer a hydrogen peroxide sterilize. H202 is very inexpensive at your local drug store and is VERY safe to use (3% h2o2). The kind at hydro stores / grow shops are running at 19%+ so you need to be careful when handling that or it will burn your skin instantly.

I have read bleach isnt good to use because its difficult to remove all of it off what your cleaning.

i have read there are aliens living among us.....doesn't make it true

You don't have too, actually can be beneficial in trace amounts. JAS

yes, dyna gro has trace amounts in it.

Bleach, peroxide, isopropyl alcohol are all great to clean with

just not together

Had the exact same problem with ph and found a whitish- yellow slime on my airtubes down into the airstones. Wiped it off with a clorox bleach saturated wipe and wiped down all surfaces exposed to the air inside my res. Then I added about 2 cups of h2o2 hydrogen peroxide. 2 days later ph returned to normal but I'm sure the funk will return in due time...I've read that some growers add bleach directly to the res but I just don't like the idea of putting bleach into something I'm gonna smoke or ingest.

I don't use clorox. I use pool shock. (48%calcium hypochlorite)

I mix two grams of the cal hypo per gallon of water. I then use anywhere from 1-4ml/gallon rez.of this solution once as a sterilizing agent in a fresh rez. It will keep your rez clean for at least a week. I'd start at 1ml/gallon This is all I need if that anymore.
A few months ago I had the worst case of slime you've ever seen. The pool shock brought things right under control. check out my link in the earlier post.


I believe there is a rough estimate somewhere in my thread given by cannabineer as to how much clorox is roughly the same. Too high right now to search for it.
