What is it??

This is coming out of on of the leaves on my fern, I've had the fern for about 6 years and never seen this before. Is it a flower?

It is a palm with a flower.

I've had the plant for 6 years now, it was a small accent plant in an arrangement. I wonder how often they flower. I will post a pic when it blooms.
