Not from personal experience but I hear strawberry has a laid back body high. OG Kush is a great smoke and high and I'm pretty sure it's at least part of the genetics of our local crippy but I don't think it'll be good for helping you sleep. You can check reputable seed banks like the flyingdutchmen.com for their descriptions or en.seedfinder.eu Hell, get the most of whatever you think will work and then enough for a joint or two of the others. I wish I had as much selection as you do even at the higher price. With everybody I know around here the only choice is crippy and schwag, no names or any middle ground.

Edit: hehe as an after thought, I remember mowie wowie and acapulco gold was one of the 300 slang names for cannabis in general that they listed in the DARE classes. The cops didn't even know it is a strain and not slang.

I agree, that that bud is very expensive. My experience says, that any strain can be made into sleep medicine by letting it overmature to the point where you see many amber colored trichomes. So bring a magnifying glass and take a look at his bud - just look for amber colored trichomes and i think you'll be getting more of the mellow cannabinoids compared to THC.
Otherwise go for Indica plants, that mostly contain more of these canabinoids from the beginning. These amber colored trichomes are the ones that makes red hash a more calm stone rather than the yellow varieties that are sometimes harvested from the same field - just earlier making the hash more of an "up" high.
Hope this helps you in your general choice. If you grow your own, you can control this 100% and you don't need to pay that much for the bud ;O).
Good luck buddy.

that really doesn't work like that.

you can't get a sativa dominant strain, harvest it at amber trichomes and expect a sleep bud, it seriously doesn't work like that.. you'll have a dreamy sativa but it wont nock you out compared to an afghani strain.

I mean the fact is sativa dominant plants don't even make the same cannabinoids as indicas, they're completely different things.

if you want the indica stone get an indica/afghani, if you want a sativa go for sativa... you can't just get some random strain and turn it into a stoney strain, only in a stoners dream does it work like that.

Herp derp. I just about fell out of my chair when u said sativas and indicas have different cannibinoids. They have different concentrations of the same cannibinoids and those concentrations can be altered by allowing thx to oxidize which would result in a more stoney sativa. It would probably compare to a normally or slightly earlier than usual harvested Indica, but an amber harvest indica would definitely be the most sedative.

if you're going to make stupid claims like you just did at least humor me and link to the nonexistent article or medicinal journal where you found out i/s have different cannibinoids. Imaginary articles fascinate me.

read up bud.

sativa has a lot of that type of thc, which explains the different high, while it doesn't have a lot of cbd (not saying it doesn't have normal thc too, but that it has a lot of thcv while heavy indica plants tend to have lots of thc and cbd.)

and besides, there are so many different types of cannabinoids it's FOOLISH of you to blatantly presume there are the same cannabinoids in all cannabis plants.

that's almost as idiotic as people who say 'its just pot it just gets me high who cares what its name is or where it came from."

and talk about stupid claims? you say " those concentrations can be altered by allowing thx to oxidize which would result in a more stoney sativa"

uhh... last I checked THC doesn't oxidize into CBD... it oxidizes into CBN, which makes you get a high that makes you 'think' your high but you're kinda not. it seems you are the one making stupid claims now.

Dude you need to reread that shit. It says its prevalent in sativas not that its exclusively in sativas, nor does it state how much is present in the bud, which im willing to bet is a nearly inconsequential amount compared to CBD or CBN.

I stand by my previous herp derp

meh your /opinion/ means nothing to me.

there really is no evidence to say you're right or to confirm I'm right either.

so I can say by experience, ask any experienced grower, you can let a sativa go as long as you want, ambered the fuck up, it will still be a sativa, just a dreamier sativa that seems to be more spacey... it will never have the nock-out qualities of an indica.

now I don't have evidence that there are different cannabinoids in indica vs sativa, but everything in my experience and logic says there are. you have absolutely no evidence that there are not, other than your arrogant presumptions that we know everything there is to know about cannabis.

Anyways,

I'd say get the OG Kush if that's the only deal you got, but as others have stated it's not really a deal. $30 for a gram is ridiculously high but if that's all you got then that's all you got. I've heard price quotes from back east that make me fall out of my chair and almost drop my piece but to them it's normal because the "weed" economy changes from county to county. Hell, around here it changes from street to street.

I only recommend the OG Kush because I've used it in the past for my insomnia and it does the trick late night. I've never used the other strains you've mentioned for insomnia. Everyone is different though. One strain that makes me sleepy could easily make my friend have a rush of energy and want to do something.

I didn't make an arrogant presumption. Shit we still dont fully understand what cb1 and cb2 receptors are in our bodies for, and after thousands of years of growing it there's still no perfect formulated fertilizer or growing environment and things are always needing tweaking and altering. By no means do i presume that we know anywhere near all there is to know about marijuana or cannabinoids for that matter. Regardless, we can come back to this thread in 10 or 15 years, by that time it'll be legalized (hopefully) and enough studies will have been done to prove one (or neither) of us right. Either way, shit gets me high so im off to toke up

I am taking Lexapro, which is causing me to arise every single morning at 2 am. (no matter what time I go to be). He gave me xanax to help me sleep, but it doesn't last long. My doc is very in tune to listening to suggestions and then nays or yays them. Any ideas for me? I go to him this Thursday.
Thanks

A few big bottles of strong beer and a fuck off big joint with some hash mixed in. I smoke what people describe as rocket fuel, compare it to a class A drug, but roll it big enough and it does the job :)

eh alcohol fucks with your sleep cycle, it's been medically proven...highly not recommended because your system works to degrade the alcohol and it interrupts your sleep cycle....

i suffer from insomnia pretty hardcore....the strains that help me the most are

NLxSkunk
purple kush
BBxSkunk
Afghani x NL

Best thing to do is experiment with some strains ...i noticed some gave me a better sleep and relaxed me more...some gave me decent sleep but make me groggy in the AM

good luck man...insomnia is a fucker

Haha, indeed, but have that extra beer and you'll sleep your 8 hours  if i just a have a couple of glasses of wine or a few pints with dinner or after work, i'm guaranteed to be awake at almost exactly 3:05am, get it a bit spinny and sleepy tie haha, then you just smoke a lovely joint at 7am and you're right as rain come 9am. Bit of a last resort method i'll admit, but it does work. Just don't make it a habbit like i do :D
