What is a Dollar!

Have you ever wondered what a "Dollar" is? Well its nothing more than a term of measurment. Not different at all from a pint, quart or gallon. So, the next time someone tells you the amount you owe for a purchase is "Ten Dollars," just say ... "Ten dollars of what?"

And there i was joking. I think you and I are far too much alike, with far too much in political difference. I'm not brittish, I'm Irish. I matriculate in Britain but have lived in Ireland my whole life.

However i must say, your comment was not only stereotypical, but simply racist. Your a true stoner my friend... I feel you may just have lost a lot of respect through that comment, it was slightly unnecessary. Also, more importantly to my previous arguments with your used-to-be good self, you have shown your true colours and enlightened us as to your true conservative roots.

I fear you may have interpreted my comment about arrogance wrongly. I meant it in relation to myself, not yourself.

No misinterpretation at all. None. I meant it in relation to you also.

And what has prompted the negative comments made by me in the last couple of posts? Snide remarks, disparaging remarks and totally rude remarks made by others. Did you guys actually believe that you could continue making these types of remarks, including personal insults and even physical threats, without any reprecussions at all? There is a breaking point for everyone ... and you Osin and you Med have finally reached mine. You can gloat over it if you must ... but in the future, you just might want to consider that rather than just typing insults on your keypad, that there are other human beings on the receiving side of your computer monitor reading what you type.

Here's just one example ... but there are hundreds more:

what would 10 dollars of money look like?
Excellent question OG ... and THAT was the point of the thread. Sorry to say, that others far less astute than you have missed the point. Most likely because they are completely deviod of a knowledge of our monetary history.

To answer your question, ten "dollars" of our present money would look like ten rectangular pieces of paper with the logo "Federal Reserve Note" written on them. They are replacable by nothing more than ten more pieces of paper. If we had money backed with gold, or another precious metal as the Founders intended, ten "dollars" would look like gold or silver coins ... and that paper Gold/Silver Certificate could be redeemed at any bank for the precious metal it represents.

And here is the big scam that those who do not understand monetary history aren't aware of: With a fiat (Paper) money system, all the government has to do to create another "dollar" is to print one out of thin air. This printed "dollar" inflates the money supply and becomes a hidden tax upon the people.

With a precious metal system, the only way another "dollar" can be created, is to dig more precious metal out of the ground. Therefore, no hidden tax in the form of inflation.

Again ... thanks for asking the question.
