Well this sums it up nicely. 420= Weed Smoking Day.

420 is a excuse to get extra high

420 was the old police code in California. basically when a cop would find the love of green on you he would call in a 420. It just worked out from there to what you kids know it to be today, and that is a weed friendly person or a great day to get stoned... Love on it, happy 4/20... O boy I am going to be fucking stoned tomorrow!

And going back through all of the old California police code archived - no, 420 was NOT a police code for pot. It's the Penal code for obstructing entry on public land.

4:20 originated from a bunch of high school/college students from California who chose that designated time as the actual meetup time to smoke pot, and as the codeword for pot. The date itself just got chosen later on. Real Earth day is April 22nd, so anyone telling you Earth Day is April 20th is full of it.

i believe 4/20 was bob marleys birthday too. its also the right time of day on any given day to light up. just because when you light up at exactly 420 with ur homies u can be sure theres tons of people lighting up with you at the exact same time all around
