What do you guys think of my first set up?

I have 6 26w cfl putting out 1600 lumens a piece plus a little 13w cfl that's 900 lumens, so about 10,500 lumens. Then I have 4 40w t8 tubes on top. I'm estimating that I have like 11,000-16,000 lumens coming from those. My area is 8 sq ft. and 3 feet tall. Painted it all flat white on the inside. My question is does it matter that the piece of wood I use as a door doesn't fully fit? It leaves about a three inch gap that lets light escape, but I figured that would be fine for air circulation because I keep a fan running 24/7. So what do you think of my grow area. Give me a list of pros and cons or what you like and what you would change. I also intend to switch to the HID route down the line

Very nice. Do you have a grow log? I'd sub to it. Only recommendation is keep it tidy in there and get some Y splitters. All those lamps are taking up precious space. Get a power brick and use socket to outlet adapters and Y splitters. Also, are those 6500k? Shoot for a 3:1 Ratio between your 6500k W's and 2700k W's Like 300w 6500k and 100w 2700k. During flower, do the opposite 1:3. Seems like a pain, so you may want to get HPS or MH.

That's a great setup for a couple of plants. I don't understand why you don't have a 250w bulb. Reduce the pot size by 25% and start using training methods. You need an extended veg period for such space limitation- use LST and topping/ FIMming- bush it out even if you're not a scrogger. Broaden your horizons- use pegs, wire, hooks, string- 18/6, cut, bend those fuckers to put the canopy in the 'zone'. Try it all! From what I see you're not going to have ventilation problems so UPGRADE to 250W HPS, and keep those circulation fans! Wondering if your light is overheating your canopy? Use your hands! Don't reckon you'd need a cooltube in that setup. Just upgrade with HIDs so you can get some good density.

Agree with above. And 1 real con I see is the gap. In veg it won't really do anything but when you flower in 12/12 you want full darkness. So that gap will let light in.

nice to see another rook who at least did some homework, definatly make the switch to hid once you get your sealegs. If your using the wattage you might as well get the extra Lumens per watt. the onl\y thing is youll have alot more heat to deal with. get some sort of ventilation goin on.

definatly keep a journal of some sort to keep track of feeding and other side notes, and good luck....oh yea here are a few pics of an old grow thats similar to yours.

Thanks for all the responses. The only thing that is preventing me from the HID is budget unfortunately. @shaneskillz thank you ill have to check into some training methods now and see whats out there. @BBbubblegum yeah you're right I do need it cleaner in there so I could utilize the more of my space and when I get an hid light that will get ride of all the random ass lamps and wires. @Warlock1369 Luckily for me this set up is in my garage where no one ventures so I figured I'd either throw some blankets over it when flowering does come time. Even though it gets pitch black in my garage with the door shut the blankets would be the safety net if anyone were to open it up

seen a 70w HPS at Homedepot for 30$. that puts off 9800 lumens. Says its a medium base... is that standard size?
