What Do You Do With Waste?!?!

Ok so have a pretty dumb question... on my first grow and things are coming along nicely now, but 1 thing that’s on my mind is ‘what the hell do I do with all the left over plant material’ when I’m finished a harvest?!?! How much is there? (In term of black plastic bags per plant) I’m going to be keeping the sugar leaves and such to make hash. I do not live somewhere where I can just throw it in the bin, put it that way haha. Any ideas would be appreciated... I’m thinking maybe composting? But not sure how bad that would smell up the outside off my house? Thanks guys and girls.

I compost mine, but I find if you double black bag it when its fresh material then it moulds quick and rots a fair bit then it doesn't stink. I bury it under a few inch of compost and there is no smell.

My thick branches get dried out and burnt. They would take a very long time to break down in compost.
If you cant burn then cut up into small pieces and dried out they look like any other branch and it doesn't take long to do.

Get a fuck ton of worms (that's a European measurement , not sure what the US equivalent is)

They're decomposers. They break down all the organic nutes and dead shit to make it available to the plants.

Sweet! I had googled em after I saw your post and got to the uncle jims worm farm page. Thinking of ordering some and the ones I don't use can just go outside to my vegetable garden, wonder how long they survive in a bag? I have FFOF, not sure if I could just dump some in there

smoke it all! and the main stems. just break them down and stick them in a black bin bag or something

If you are worried about people being able to ID the fan leaves then just chop them up and dispose of them. You can also dry some, throw them in a blender or food processor, and use them as an herbal tea.

Plastic tote w/ cover, add a small amount of water (10 gallon tote @ 1 cup of water)...just enough to keep things moist, add a small bit of soil or coco...then at harvest, take all your clippings, stems, whatever and put them in the tote, cover them with the soil or coco and close the lid, slip it into a corner of your garage or basement. In 3 weeks, only remnants of the stems will remain which will be unidentifiable and easily broken down. Do this over a couple harvests, using the same dirt / coco, then bag it up and use in your garden outside...makes great compost, doesn't smell up your house and not the first bit of your plant ever leaves your home...easy peasy. Good luck.

yeah I’m going to add some to a composter. lots have said that it’s useful!

I first got worms off craigslist Here's the Vemicompost thread!

I made my own worm bin using two utility storage bins. On one bin, I drilled holes into the bottom for drainage and at the top around the sides for airflow. Stack the hole-y bin inside the other, put the cap on and ~voila~ a worm home. I just used some potting soil and wet paper materials for bedding. Now they eat my trimmings, cardboard, wet paper towels and table scraps!

The key to keeping them happy is to keep their environment light and fluffy and slightly moist. I've found that I have to tear apart paper products, bread, large scraps etc in order for them to break down and get eaten. Otherwise, it all congeals into thick, moldy mats that are a bitch to separate.

well that was a thought I had as well, but I live Somewhere that doesn’t see cannabis as harmless unfortunately. And I live a town home, so lots off people very close by haha. I will be burning the woody stems, but all the other waste will be getting thrown in the composter. From what people have said, it’s the easiest and most discreet way.

Weed doesnt really smell like weed when you are burning it in a fire, especially if the fire is a decent size.
