What do we Know About Ohio?

We're pretty far decriminalized, I can possess or grow up to 100g for just a slap on the wrist, but I have heard virtually NOTHING about the possibility of legalization, and even worse we just recently illegalized salvia d, so we seem to be moving in the wrong direction. Any news from any other Ohioans?

A committee at the state level held discussions last year, and it was reported on WCBE (NPR). Sometime in late fall, I think. They heard testimony from law inforcement, doctors and medical users. Every committee member, even the most conservative, agreed that decriminalization should happen. However, they also stated that the public isn't ready for the idea, and that introducing legislation to fix the problem would have a negative backlash. So they closed the hearing (and this has been going on for years) by saying that nothing will be done this year.

In an article at kentnewsnet.com Cher Neufer, treasurer of the North Ohio chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, inferes that medical marijuana legalization would pass a popular vote of the people. The Republican Ohio Senate may be an obstacle to any bill being passed this year. Neufer urges Ohioans to contact their representatives and let them know what they want. Neufer is a bit pessimistic that the bill to be introduced this year by Kenny Yuko will pass. Kate Lyman, Yuko's legislative aide, said they are tweaking the bill State Senator Tom Roberts introduced - Senate Bill 343 - in 2008, making it stronger.

Not much. Other posters drilled the latest with the whole Rep senate likely to squash anything Yuko puts forward anyways, but they should still get the ball rolling. I think it will boil down to what happens in MI. Then see what PA is gonna do. As far as IN and KY... hell so much weed is grown there you'd think their leaders would be spearheading tax/regulate schemes. meh.. should be good to go in the next ten years or so...yeah..
