What do I do to get that good smell back?

I was not buying into the 2-3 month cure...I harvested Nirvana AK48 April 2011 and a newer harvest in early July 2011. I opened the July 2011 first, and it smelled nice and fruity. I then opened a jar from April 2011 and wow, it was really nice and fruity smelling. Must be something to what you say, sorry I had my doubts, but based on my own harvest the older harvest does smell better. I just hope that I can get my seal back on the jars I opened, oops.

I see 2-3 months curing as more of a recommendation than a requirement. If you want that smell and taste that you like, you might want to cure it that long. If not, go with the moment.

I can and will wait that long. But what if smell doesnt come back? lol
I just dont understand how this will improve.
The buds are curing in jars for 3 weeks now, 65% RH. The hey smell is almost gone, only the buds now have almost no smell at all, or maybe like some dried oregano???
Has somebody really experienced this? I mean, that their buds went thru a phase of no aroma to dank? If so, how did the smell change over the weeks?

give your buds a squeeze, then throw them in glass jars and do a sweat cure. you can also add fruits to it, to draw moisture and aroma. I like to add sliced apples for aroma, when the buds are really dry agfter curing, if the bud is dry enough it will draw the moisture from the apple, and the flavor too. you can use other fruits too, butt I just use apple. that`s worse case scenerio tho , if nothing else works.

Apples gives off a gas, but it may be OK when fully dried & cured properly. If the Buds get too dry, I use sliced strips of carrot, 1/4th" X 1/4th" strips. For a great smell, plant Oragne Bud. My whole house smelled like Oranges. Mixed with Kush, A Skunk shitting oranges.

i use the hygrometer method and at 65% ya buds should be smelling Dank. If its not then i guess it wont come out that much even after a few weeks. Grows where ive had to cut it early, in jars all at 65% didnt really smell. All grows that i flower until Ripe, 65% there stinking big time. Ive got some sitting at 65% now and its seeping out my mason jars. The hygro method really works. All the best.

you can get hygrometers from petsmart or petco for 5 bucks... They sell them for lizard tanks. Their nice and small

Those hygrometers are inexpensive, and they're also very inaccurate. There are gobs of hygrometers on the market, but only two are recommend: the Caliber III and a (calibrated) Hydroset/Xikar. Given the value of a typical crop, even a micro grow, it makes zero sense not to get a real gauge on the state of the product.

You usually lose the smell when the outside gets dry and smells like grass or hay. If they are *NOT* dried all the way through then you are ok, curing in mason jars and burping will bring back the smell. If they are dried through then you are f!@*&! so smoke up.
Get a hygrometer (not a hydrometer like some stated) and you will never guess again.. 20 bucks well worth it. I have the Caliber III about 6 of em and they work excellent.

I worked for a friend who dried his stuff just like Marcu5 describes. Almost exactly. We dried it for many days as like 1/4 plants because it was outdoor like 3lb plants. Clipped the nearly dry buds into paper bags for about a day or until we could get to trimming it. Trimmed it and put the end product into turkey bags tied with a loose knot. Remembering to "fluff" regularly while in the paper and turkey bags. This is used by large operations in my experience. Unless you are doing 3-5lbs and more, then I probably wouldn't do this method.
