what determines the specs of a strain?

looking through online seedbanks i see that they use a lot of the same groupings and numbers to relay information, and i'm not really clear as to how they come up with it. maybe someone could shed some light?

what makes a strain indoor or outdoor?

when they rate grow difficulty what does that really mean? sensitive to stress? disease prone?

when they say yield ......400g, or 400-500g they mean what? per plant? n per square yard of plants? ScroG?

how much wiggle room do they have on these claims?

i'm slightly disappointed i have aurora indica growing from nirvana, when i ordered them they were rated as yielding 450-550g. with an 8 week flowering time. this is why i choose them over ak-48s or whatever.
the newly updated listing has Aurora indica as 9-11 weeks flowering, and a yield of 300-400g, so uh....wtf?

"what makes a strain indoor or outdoor?"

I'll leave this to a breeder, I've never read the answer.

"when they rate grow difficulty what does that really mean? sensitive to stress? disease prone?"

Blueberry is a good example, it'll often hermie with little or no stress if not bred well. While it's relatively easy to grow from seed to harvest if the nutes are kept low, it takes some skill to produce potent, tasty buds with good volume.

Usually they mean per meter squared (1 M squared = 1.196 yards squared) unless they state in the description "per plant". Sometimes they will state SOG (etc), most times not.

"how much wiggle room do they have on these claims?"

Usually between 68% and 3247%. A lot depends on the grower, a lot of seedbanks exagerate.

There are too many great breeders around to waste time and space in your garden on mediocray like Nirvana. Serious, Elite, Subcool (TGA), Rezervoir, DJ Short ...

The flowering time has a lot to do with the grower - light, nutes, experience (when and how to do things) - but you get some strains by some breeders that just won't finish. Try a different breeder next time.
