What Defines a Light Leak??

In the past I have had some problems with light leaks. Through vents and panda film being too thin to cover a window. But how many seconds or minutes does it take for a plant to recognize that light enough to make it herm out? Getting seeds in your bud is not fun.

Every morning my flower room turns off at 8:15am, shortly after that my AC unit turns off. Sometimes I get home late maybe around 9:00am and the lights are already off and I have to quickly go in the room to set the split system AC timer to turn on at 8:15pm.

Is the light from that one second interrupting them?

We are trying to replicate an outdoor enviroment indoors...the sun just doesnt pop on for 2 minutes in the middle of the night and go back off again...in my experience every strain is different.Best bet is to just avoid as much of that as possible...I dont think there is a one size fits all rule for light leaks...they are just to be avoided.

Why not change photo period to start an hour later to get you to 9:15 if you have to see them at 9?

Yea I use foil tape and gorilla tape. Just a tip, some humidifiers will have a blinking light when they get low/empty that could cause issues.

I think there can be some low level of ambient light as long as it's consistent. I leave a lower flap on the tent open 24/7. It's in the basement but the room is not light proof. Darker is better, of course, but I think people obsess over too much sometimes.
Constant interruptions of bright lights is probably bad but a few pinholes in a tent or zipper isn't a huge deal. imo.

In my opinion, you are asking for potential DNA alteration by letting more than a small candle-light/moon brightness equivalent. You might be fine, you might not.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how hermies are produced (one way of many). Alter your grow to accommodate for this ASAP. Just my two cents.

Also, what Lo Budget said, lol^

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where did you get the idea that your changing the DNA? Please tell me in detail, how a light leak transforms DNA in plants! DNA can be damaged by UVA and has "damage control and repair" methods for that.....But what you suggest is not right!

Your wrong on that one! It does not "change the DNA".....It can and does, change the way a plants gene's express themselves!

You need to read up on Photoreceptors and Light Signaling ! There is actually a textbook titled that by Alfred Batschaure
