^^ Sorry to hear about your depression, neer. Both my ex-wives battled that, and it's a hard way to live. I hope things improve for you in that area...

Sorry to hear about your condition dude. I guess we'll just agree to disagree on this one, Im ever the optimist, if I didnt my whole situation would fall apart ;) Lets just wait and see what happens.

I know its off topic, but does smoking genuinely help with depression? Iv read it many time but Iv also read it was a depressant.

Being ever the empiricist, all I can say is it has neither helped nor worsened mine. The full modern psychopharmaceutical barrage has done me more ill than good. cn

... one night, while on 5 (maybe 6) different meds, I woke to the sound of shattering glass 'inside' my head. Things haven't been the same since. More synchronicity, etc. Back then, I think I went to bed at around 6 or 7 every night for a year or two. Actually, I don't know for sure yet but those meds may have been an addition to reasons for 2 'deathbed' surgeries I've had.

cannabineer, you are a very intelligent and funny person. I've read many of your posts and either laughed or gained a little bit of knowledge from them. I find it strange that people of higher intellect tend to get depressed more often and more easily than others. Perhaps it's because you look into everything a little more than others that causes your depression; over-analyzation has led me to almost all of my bouts with depression. Know that most of the greatest minds in history have battled depression.

As far as the next evolutionary change in humans, I think as it becomes easier and easier for different cultures, religions, races etc. to intermingle, we will eventually have a universal language. That's way down the road though. I've also noticed the health of racially mixed children seems to be much better than "purebreds". Same as in dogs and other animals. Albinism and other diseases seem to be much more prevalent in purebreds. Perhaps there will be a super race in the future. Nature is pointing us in that direction at least.

X's 2. I find this to be very similar to the experiences I've had too.

Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. I'm feeling the love, and that's making my day go that meaningful little bit easier.

Were I a theist, I would conclude that clinical depression is the opposite of God. I would not say "demonic" because the standard concept of a demon is a someone. Full-blown clinical depression is not someone, not anything; it's the ineffable lack of something that is acid-trip indescribable and yet a basic nutrient of existence. Oy, I'm rambling. cn

Hi neer, thanks for that - and the rambling.

I don't want to go off on a super-tangent about this subject, cause it's a deep one. I will post this though.

Funny thing about what can save a person's life. For me, at the first 'tipping point', it was a painting - that had some writing on it - that was on a wall.

The po-po are 'fun' to deal with in that state, I must say...

I truly want to believe that we are indeed at a tipping point beyond which lies a ski slope to the awesome.

the ability to speak to anyone in the world in a universal language would be awesome for spreading ideas.
