I fill mine with ph'ed tap water and change when I start a new batch. The clones start out of the water. But will grow into it. you don't want to keep them in the cloner very long after they get roots. the water has no nutes and is to warm for the roots to grow. I don't seem to need a dome with mine. I do mist them 3-4 times a day till roots get started.
