What are your feelings on net pot size??

I wanted to hear your feelings in net pot size. Is there any great advantage to using say a 5" over a 3" same bucket size I use 5 gal

hi there faller200 i like the 5" pots coz there more sturdy than 3" ones but one day will try out the 3" ones as i have 10 doin nothin.....my freind...

I have been using 4 3" pots in each 5 gal bucket But I think they crowd each other to much. I want to try just one per bucket and I have all the 3" pots. I do tie my pots in with small pieces of wire. will it make any dif. in plant size?

yes coz u would have more room for the plants putin 4 3" nets in one 5gal is very crowdy. i use 6.5gal containers with 1 net pot. but if i was to have a very sort veg time then i would double up the plants in the containers.....hope this helpd my gud friend

Faller200: I'm using the 5 1/2's. That's what they sold me and recommended at the hydro store and they're reasonably stable in a bubble tub. I don't doubt I'm wasting a lot of Hydroton. As far as the size is concerned, I grew in 1 3/4 inch baskets in Aerogardens for he last six years and they worked fine. I think it's what's under the baskets that really counts. That's my two cents anyway. HSA

i use 2" start to finish. never had a problem tho a support of some type is needed

small pots tend to be tippy once the plant gets a little hieght to it,theres a number of ways to help sturdy them up,I have used pop rivets screws and a few others, stick with bigger pots if you can its worth it and if hydroton is a problem you can use small river rock just the same I have been useing it for a few years now
