What are these bugs?

About 3 weeks into flower I noticed some small bugs in the res and brain bucket, they were little white things that jumped and they clustered together in groups. I looked them up and identified them as Springtales, which weren’t suppose to be harmful so I left them.

Yesterday I was checking the trichomes with a usb scope so decided to check out the bugs up close. After viewing them through the scope they no longer look like Springtales. There’s two different types of bugs from what I can see. They only live in water, I haven’t found any in the grow room or on any plants.

The bigger black ones seem to be eating the small white ones. Now I have no idea what they are and wondering what kind of damage they have been causing. Iv been running into major deficencies with this grow, I put it down to the tap water I was using as it’s very high ppm and never used it before. But now I’m thinking it was something to do with the bugs.

Any ideas?

Ah ok, I thought I might have had a collection of different bugs. At first, I only seen the little whites ones jump but after using the scope I could see bigger black ones.

Do you know if they can cause any problems?

Ya, you may have more than one type of springtail. I think they are cannibal insects? It would have to be one hell of an infestation to really be a problem to your grow. Just annoying as shit. I had the little white ones before.

Definitely eating themselfs lol. I had the usb scope on them for a few mins. The blacks ones where trying to eat the whites ones and then there are little grey ones too. Have less than 3 weeks left so going to sick it out and do a full overhaul with the flood and drain system before I go again.

Just on a side note man, I noticed your growing out some fruity pebbles? I managed to grab a tester pack from greenpoint FPOG x Star Dawg. Hoping to start them at the end of the month. The FPOG your running, were they S1 or cut? I’m going to follow up on your thread to see how they finish up

Fems from Jaws. Nice score on the testers. Im curious how that Stardawg is going to cross with the FPOG. I managed to get a pack of Sundae Driver x Stardawg testers.

Yeah my thinking too it will be I nteresting to see how it crosses over. I haven’t seen any FPOG grows to reference.

Cool nice grab. I actually order two testers in a bit of panic haha, the FPOG and Tahoe cross. Had to choose one so went for the FPOG. I wasn’t even looking for a tester. I seen there was a sale so went for the Cookie’s wreck and stumbled onto the tester page. I wouldn’t have the best internet either so not sure how I managed it

Thats the same story I have on the testers. Right place at the right time haha. Everyone else gave up when the site crashed...I continued refreshing for the Banana OG and stumbled onto the tester page fully loaded with every tester still available.
