Hi All,

Harvesting my first grow, and ran into a major problem. My Double Dream sativa clone only grew about 18 inches high, and was super dense. When I went to dry today, there was a ton of moisture inside the cola and buds on the main stem. Photos below:

Do I have to trash it? Does this look like mold?

No white webbing / bad odor. Just some wet and soft areas. Thanks in advance!!!

Little bit more detail:
The bud does not crumble or turn into dust, but definitely is softer than non-affected areas.
Noticed immediately upon harvesting, leading me to believe it would be Botrytis and not the more dangerous post-cure molds.

Looks like budworms got at it first then the mold took hold in the worm shit.

Yeah, you can see a hole on the stem where a caterpillar got her... I've since found a solution to any future bud worms... Wish I would have taken these measures off the bat.

What do you think, just toss the whole plant?

I wouldn't toss the whole plant unless the majority of it is infected and you don't have any other plants going. Otherwise I would just cut the damage off and dry the rest

Thanks, that is great to hear. This was my first grow, and I only had two plants. Both clones started late, end of July. Would hate to lose my first cola:

I discarded the wet/brown material, and tried to clean up the caterpillar crap as well as I could. Will at least dry at this point, separately, and see how she looks. I kept the sugar leaves to make butter with.. but might discard after reading up on bud rot and potential health effects...

My other plant was a SourD clone, and although it got hit by worms as well, not nearly as bad. Plenty of undamaged nugs. Quickly flash dried one today after harvesting:

It was a tough journey, but my very first grow is almost complete... What an experience. Can't wait to start my second, and capitalize on the new found knowledge. Thanks RIU!

edited to fix typo
