Ok here goes, first of all I'm an avid pot smoker. I'm a disabled veteran that is on a tight budget, so I have more time than money. So that gives me more time to try different things. I have been reading post on here and listening to all kinds of advice. I have complied alot of information from this website. I have decided on a setup and I'm sticking to it. Your advice will be much appreciated for my next grow. But for now I'm keeping it simple and let's just see how this grow goes....

More details on my setup and pictures will come shortly. I just wanted to introduce myself and start this thread.

Oh by the way, CFL's only!

Good luck with your 1st grow. Let us know what type of grow system, what type CFLs, Strains, ect . Like you, I to have time on my hands, not a disabled vet, but I am disabled and a vet, so what does that make me??? Uhmmm, a vet with a diability I guess, I served in the Army 1972-75. Smoked some awesome hash when stationed in Germany, it was the best. However, whenever I can, I'll ride my Harley, but mostly home bound, real bitch at times. Good Luck

So here is the information and pictures I promised.

Information

Seed - Bagseed, I have no idea, if you guys would have any clue by looking at these, what they are at any point in this grow please let me know.

Soil - For three of my pots I used Miracle Grow potting soil (feeds for 4 months) and MG Perilite. For the other 2 I used Sta-Green potting soil (Feeds for a whooping 9 months). All are planted in 6 inch plastic pots.

Lights -
7 23 watts 6500k Daylight CFL's,
5 23 watts 2700k SW,
1 25w 7200k FlouroTube,
19,000 lumens,
Everywall is covered with Mylar. I am currently running 18/6 light cycle. Once I go into flowering I will change all the 6500k and the 7200k with 2700k.

Ventilation - I have a 8 inch ocillating fan running 24hrs. I also have a 9 inch fan exhausting thru a dryer duct to the outside. I know this may be a problem once i start flowering, but I have a plan using this same set up to control odor.

Environment - Temps stays a steady 85 with lights on, the lowest I have seen it was 65. So my plants stays thirsty, I feed them 1/3 of a cup of water right after lights out.

So there is all I can think to tell you gals and guys. From what I can compiled from the soil, The 3 MG is totally kicking the 2 Sta-green ass. You can notice it in the pics. So ask anything you guy want, I'll take good advice but critisizim is not welcomed. puff

Plants are looking pretty good! They don't seem to have any sort of imperfections. An once you start flowering I'd suggest a DIY in-line carbon filter on your exhaust. Though you may need more static pressure to force the air through the active carbon and the rest of the ducting you have in place already.

Would love to find some DIY plans....you have a favorite?

I forgot to mention, RAIN WATER ONLY!!!! Just seems more natural.

I'm interested to find a better DIY carbon scrubber. The one I tried wasn't working very well at all.
The ladies are looking good though. I like the rain water idea.

Experiment #1 - I have been adding 1/3 cup of rain water right after lights OUT since planting. On 3 consecutive days I added my water in the form of rain water ice cubes. I noticed my plants having a more "perky" appearance when the lights came on. But for the past 2 days I have just been adding rain water (average temp is 62F). I don't get that "perky" appearance when not adding ice. Wonder what the outcome would be if I only used ice for watering? I may just experiment with that one. Maybe just one.

Just added another 23w 2700k for side lighting. Just took some up to date pics. The babies are growing like Weeds!!! In pic #4 you see a pesky little bug, it's black and has wings. anyone know what this is? Should I be concerned. I don't see any insect damage. All I see it doing is laying on the leafs and soaking up the heat.

Added another 23w 2700k side light today. Seems like they grow an inch overnight. I have some height restrictions, could I start to flower when the tallest is 8 inches? I'm not looking for record breaking yields.

Oh forgot to mention, Seems like the rain water ice cubes for watering is a great benefit. So much I'm giving 3 of my babies nothing but 1/3 of a cup of rain water ice cubes at lights out. Watering the other 2 with the same 1/3 rain water at lights out, avg. temp 62F of water. Seems like they are not so "tired" looking at the end of lights out. Can't wait to see how this works out....stay tuned.

Yeah, it's so beneficial that I have switched all five of my babies over to ice cube watering only. New update will be added tomorrow. Bitches getting big!

Nothing changed except, nuted with miracle grow all purpose plant food at 1/4 the strength, Seems to be responding well to it. Added another fan for ventilation, temps were getiing 88 to 92 with lights on. Hoepefully my new fan keeps it cooler. Working well so far. Here are some up to date pics from this morning. In my opinion they are doing well. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Well the extra exhaust fan is doing wonders! Temps staying steady at 82F with the lights on!!!!

Just a quick question for all of the wonderful minds of mary jane growing. Will fourteen 23w 2700k be enough to flower these bitches?

How to do respond to your fiancee's ex-husband handing you a 30 sack and saying, "Take it man, this is for you...." I mean, I have smoked with him on a few occasions. All I said was thank you and hurried and locked it in my safe before he changed his mind.......
