So I planted a couple plants guerrilla-style over the weekend, deep in a national forest. The locations are about a 2 hour drive from where I live, so I'd like to minimize the number of times I have to visit, especially for watering purposes. Keeping track of rainfall would help this, but the weather out there varies significantly from where I live.
I was hoping I might be able to find somewhere online the cumulative weekly precipitation for a nearby town (i.e., something that says how many inches of rain the town has gotten over the last week). However, I'm having trouble finding this data. The best I've been able to find is this (changing it to "Last 7 days" and selecting the state I want): http://water.weather.gov/precip/
However, I can't seem to find raw numbers for particular towns, and the resolution of the image is so poor that it's not very helpful unless the whole area had widespread rain. Does anyone know of any way to keep track of precipitation the way I'm trying to do?
