Week 1 flower, beginning to hermie, found light leaks

I have about a 5 and a half week old plant about 9 days into flower and beginning to hermy, balls at some nodes, hairs at most others. I shut myself in the tent and there were a lot of light leaks, now that I've got the light leaks fixed would I be able to cut off the male parts and the rest of the new growth should all be female?
I also took 4 clones after flower started in the tent with the leaks but the plant had not started to show male parts yet so would the clones still likely be okay?

I'll be able to take pics this afternoon. When it was in veg I would sometimes have the lights on 24/0 to get extra work done and sometimes 18/6. It was a bit sporadic, could that cause a hermie even though I stayed above 18/6?

Not from my experience, I have screwed with the light cycle and timing in veg a lot without issue but.... that is just my experience some girls are more susceptible then others.

Most likely another newb seeing calyxes for the first time.Simple research will answer most questions.

Hey,I didn't see that you were a well known.A light leak that is consistant will seldom cause herming, otherwise the moon or other outdoor lighting would cause trouble.Too many weak genetics around now, weed out the weak and move on!

Thought the moon provided no usable light?

I was using that as an example,My area has a few leaks that have never caused any issues ever.Weak genes caused by poor breeding, kind of like dogs that have been inbred too many times.

Yeah I'm guessing it's probably genetic after your guys input.
The seeds were a result of a male missed in an outdoor patch of my buddies. I'm guessing some seeds came from nanners(he doesn't tent to his plants much throughout the year), some from ditch weed, and some from the actual male that was missed. It was like 5 or 6 different strains.
About 25% of plants from these seeds that I've popped(probably 30 females) have been garbage, 50% are nice but throw nanners part way through flower, and 25% are pretty outstanding.

It just threw me off because the stem rub is amazing on this one that's herming, a lot like one of the plants from the last run(flowered 3 females of these same seeds the last run) that turned out to be probably better than my Ocean Grown gear that I ran with it and it didn't throw one nanner. This plant that is herming smells just like that special one did, was hanging onto the hope that it was an alike pheno and that my light leaks is what is throwing balls. I was able to take clones from it this time though but it'll be junked if it's new growth continues to herm.
I think I'll just try cutting off the male parts for now and see what happens

Well an update on what happened, that original plant started throwing more sacks than pistols so I chopped it, but I did get those 4 clones days before Male parts appeared.

All clones rooted, vegged for about one week and flipped.
Today is about day 7 of flower and they are looking healthy and proud! No male flowers and I noticed trichs starting to form on some flower sites which would be the soonest I've had trichs. And they still have that awesome grape stem rub.
Apparently it is a strain that's very sensitive to light leaks.

Mostly 3 and 5 finger leaves, the original from seed seemed very indica dominant as well, had the fattest leaves that I've ever grew, clones leaves are rather skinny so far though.
I took another clone off one of the flowering clones the other day just in case they turn out to be something special, I'm thinking they will bongsmilie15300519921016287289258717438120.jpg

Hey man :P

Id keep an extremely good eye on those clones.
Despite what people tell you its always the genes. You may be able to get them through flower without showing. Maybe.
But i fing it quite unlikely.
Hermaphrodism is genetic. Its their genetic profile. Not every cannabis plant is asexual.
Keep an extremely keen eye on them. You have cloned a plant with hermaphrodite genes.
Hermaphrodite genes are recessive as well.
I dont mean to alarm you. But just dont think its you if your clones start throwing bananas.
It'll be a lot more likely to happen if they dont get pollinated by another plant first.
So if you're aiming for sensemilla be extremely vigilant at checking for them.
Especially from week 3 or 4, or so on.
Im sorry to say, but its as genetic as you and I are.
Id consider searching for a better phenotype to clone. Otherwise i guarantee you'll have future hermies as well.
Sorry, dude. Dont take it the wrong way either. Im just trying to be truthful.
Always seed my own plants, and have had a lot of hermies growing.
Its the seed.
Sorry for the biblical quote. But its so true with horticulture.
"You reap what you sow".
We sow the seed. The seed produces, and every seed varies greatly. Even from exactly the same batch of seeds.

Best of luck. Hope they stay stable throughout bloom.
I only mean to tell you this, to stop you from chasing your tail unnecessarily, if they express themselves.

Good luck OP.

No your fine man, I agree that I need to keep extremely close eye on it, as I have been.
I'm just hoping it's a very like pheno of the plant that I grew last run that came from the same batch of accidentally pollinated plants.
My Ocean Grown gear ran with it was amazing, but this single plant I ran with them was even more potent and terpy.
Then this plant in topic pops and gives the exact stem run of that plant which I wish I had cloned but didn't.
But yeah I will as long as I grow that plant keep an eye on it but for now its all pistols, we'll see what happens!:eyesmoke:

I'll search for some pics of this plant from the last run that I talked about.

Here they are, this plant went pure purple, was the most pungent with absolute grape temps, it don't look like much but it surpassed all other plants I had.

First 2 pics are that purple plant. The 3rd is the purp in the center of the canopy during that run. The 4th was a nice alien rift I had. This was my second grow, was pretty happy for sure. Unfortunately I can't find any pics of it at harvest. These photos of the purp was around 7 weeks and that alien rift was I believe day 56, that got the chop shortly after.
