If you are going to do a complete grow with plasma or a side by side comparision with MH/HPS vs plasma I'll be intersted in seeing your outcomes and evaluations. This ought to be fun.
I also hope this does not become an arguementative thread, but rather an educational and thread with a lot of questions.

I'm not going to grow side by side, I've 1,800 pictures of HPS growing on tiny pics and many pics and weight measurements of every strain but Endless Sky. We can do picture comparisons from my attached Weed Science thread.

Discussions are the only way to go. I find that my thread discussions are very civil and necessary for veracity. ANY educated question or comment is more than welcome. I redefined my model of light receptors after being corrected by a biologist in my own thread and I thanked him for his input.

With your questions/comments tear down the fortress of my mind ...

I have a dozen good friends working as law enforcement, local and RCMP. Their advice: don't sell, keep it away from kids, keep it indoors and to yourself. They are insulted that they have to police marijuana and some would like to smoke instead of drink. Sometimes.

In Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I've been spending a lot of time, people walk down the road smoking joints. I can't believe it, but it's local custom because the police ignore it. Marc Emery himself has been known to smoke in public.

They know that you grow Dank, they know. They don't want to have to care.

I need the best 300 watt plasma light on the market, a 600 watt HPS replacement. One that can be hooked up to a Light Rail.

Suggestions or links to good plasma lighting threads appreciated.

Don't know the best, but here's a short list:
Companies producing or developing plasma lamps include Ceravision, Luxim, Plasma International, i-Giant and Topanga Technologies.
Luxim's LIFI, or light fidelity lamp, claims 120 lumens per RF watt (i.e., before taking into account electrical losses).[SUP][6][/SUP] The lamp is used by Stray Light Optical Technologies in their commercial lighting fixtures. The lamp has been used in Robe lighting's ROBIN 300 Plasma Spot moving head light.[SUP][7][/SUP] It was also used in a line of, now discontinued, Panasonic rear projection TV.[SUP][8][/SUP]
Ceravision has introduced a combined lamp and luminaire under the trade name Alvara for use in high bay and street lighting applications. It uses an optically clear quartz waveguide with an integral burner allowing all the light from the plasma to be collected. The small source also allows the luminaire to utilize more than 90% of the available light, compared with 55% for typical high-intensity discharge fittings. Ceravision claims the highest luminaire efficacy rating of any light fitting on the market and to have created the first HEP lamp. Ceravision uses a magnetron to generate the required RF power and claims a life of 20,000 hours.

You couldn't be more right. I understand it isn't a matter of them knowing. I've been through a couple raids and the one time they found bud, an ounce, I was fine lol. He told me, "Next time you think we're comin' around, hide your shit better".

I'm looking at the Blackstar EFSF 8, seems to have 120 x 3 watt bulbs but is ranged in the 300 watt area.

3 band, 2 in red and one in blue, I am still perplexed ...

I like the company and they come recommended by other growers. I'll email them one more time.

Don't mean to sound like a woman...and certainly no offense meant to any woman....but I don't think you'll have the penetration with this LED that you'd get with LEP. Again, no experience other than reading a lot of arguements about LED. It's true you can get the LED's pretty darn close and the LEP doesn't give off much heat either. What's your experience tell you?

That you are correct.

I bought 4 UFOs - 90 watts each at 1 watt per bulb - two years ago and they were less than useless for growing, they caused hermying in DJ Shorts Flo. I think 7 band and now I'm looking at 3 band with no orange for the Emmerson effect.

I want an LED or Plasma so I can run my Elliptical Trough Reflector with my Light Rail (mover) that will give me a 12" penetrating beam of light that moves over my garden and has the power to penetrate - focusing the light 4X.

A big risk.

An Elliptical reflector focuses all of the light to a point - the focus - below the reflector. Because all of the LEDs lights are focused to a point it is LIKE having one intense bulb like an HPS, but at half the energy usage and heat output.

A concept that I came up with a few years ago and have always wanted to run.

I was a big fan of the idea of a light rail because it covered a larger area and "imitated" the movement of the sun...sort of Then I thought I'm getting light to the edges 1/2 the time and didn't like that. If you use the mover do you have other lights you can use for side lighting or is this strictly an experiment using what you need for this run?

Ahhh so they have there heads screwed on straight! my family come from p.e.i. area and ya know im surprised i dont see more canadians on dragons den trying to get them to finance a medical grow! America will never realize this cash cow unless it pulls its head outa its ass!

I'm trying to find a pic of the trough reflector, but to no avail. Does it spread the light out better or focus it in a narrow fashion? Wanting to learn
