usually what i do is pour water in fast enough to get the water to pool about 1 in thick on top and call it good. You have to water a lil more often then soaking them but you also don't have a problem with overwatering and they get more o2 to the roots more often

Over watering does not occur by how much at 1 time. It occurs when you water to often.

There isn't a set answer for this. How much you need to water, depends not just on the pot size, but also other factors as well, such as how much your individual plant wants. Water until you start to get runoff, and stop.

I usally go by the weight of the container. If it feels really light it's time to water. I find that as the plants get bigger they demand more water more often. :)

No, I don't think so. Your plants can't drown in water. Think about it an aero system you plants live in water. In an ebb and flow and nft The plants all live in water for a certain period of time. so you can't give your plants too much water. In soil, if you don't let the soil dry out the roots don't get enough o2 because of all the water choking the roots. Your plants cannot O.D. on water

slowly and evenly water the plant until it starts to dribble out the bottom. most plants need to be watered every 2-3 days.
