you want to keep the rockwool damp. be sure to soak it in pH 5.0 water over night before using. Then take it out of water, place on a tower for a couple minutes and place seed 1/4 in inside cube and cover with a small piece torn off the side of the cube.

Wait a couple days no lighting is necessary.

then every two days water about an eye dropper full on top of hole. after about a week it will sprout. now water around the hole in the cube with the same amount water so roots go down not up. You want moist at center not wet.

Keep the temp of the cube at about 80f Lights low, 25watt bulb would be fine now and dont blow it away with a fan.

Good info!

I plan on using a rockwool "starter plug"(?) for the seedling then moving into a larger cube. Will i need to wait until roots show thru before this transfer takes place? will nutrients be introduced at the time of transplant?

Seedlings have enough nutrients to last them about two weeks. Just keep them damp with water. When they are about three weeks old you will see them getting lighter in color. That's when you start nutrients. Get a ppm meter and mix 200ppm of your nutrient to start with. Or use minimum recommended dose and cut it in half. use this for a week and then move up.
