watering of seedlings/sprouts

How often should tiny sprouts be watered if they are in relatively small pots, with a hot 400w HPS shining on them?

everyday if not more, i have mine under 6 fllours and i water them at least once if not twice a day, your babies will tell you what they need you just gotta learn how to interpret them

Water them when they get dry. It's really as easy as that. Small pots dry out much faster than larger pots, obviously, so with really small pots you may have to water twice per day or even more. I had some seedlings in 2 inch wood fiber pots and they were drying out every few hours, which got to be a pain. So I repotted them into 4 inch plastic pots and now they are holding water much longer.

Exactly. Its as easy as checking the soil. Get a moisture metre would be my solution. Its like 10$ at any place which sells flowers :) Huge help down the road, but just watch ur soil man. When its dry.. water it. Make sure u got drainage holes to prevent rot, and Don't be fooled by the top layer of dirt being dry, stick ur finger in it slightly due to the fact the top drys out first right? Especially in your situation with the 400hps on seedlings :D

What's up guys new to this forum working on my first grow in many years. Trying something alittle bit different this go around. I have a sealed room that is 12' x 12'. Out of that 12 x 12 room I have built a 3 ft x 5 ft. cabnet for mothers and clones. It has it's own ducting in and out and a oscilating fan. Currently I have a 4 bulb t5 54x4 watt veg light. 4 x 6500k. I think I may get the 8 bulb version soon and use the 4 bulb for side lighting. By the way this room in located in a basement the head room is 6' 3". Whole room has 3 ventilation systems. One for HID light, One for mothers/clone cabnet, and one for main room for flowering. I also have the entire room tarped with thick white crazy durable tarps. The HID light is a 1000 watt digital ballast with a 6 in. inline air cooled duct. Not arrived yet but ordered. There are vents from the main part of my house to the room for fresh air supply. It is filtered. I hooked up the HID light to my furnace/Central air. I have shut offs for that in the ducting to spill into main basement or feed thru central air system to either mask heat or recycle it in the winter. I plan on putting clones into a areoponic system for flowering. Plants so far what I have are 11 netherlands High quality and 2 Northern Lights/Big Bud. I also have to bag seed plants going to expeariment on. They are all in a soilless mix I put togther and PH'd to 6.7. They seem to be doing good, however untill recently I had the light to high and they are trying to catch up alittle. I run the light 3 inches away from the top of the leaves. I feed them a very low ppm solution every 3 days or so. The temps and humidity are 76 degree's and 57% humidity when the light is on and 72% and 57% humidity when light is off. Dehumidifier keeps humidity right where I want it. GE 65 pint. You can also use the water you collect to give to your plants so long as you keep the collection bucket clean and empty often. There is no clorine in it. Anyway a long ramble I will try and post a few pics. Plants are 16 days old from planting. 1/4 tsp floranova bloom per gallon of water. I use RO water. The PPM is around 160 with a ph of 5.5. After adding nutes. I give it a little bit of ph up to 5.8 5.9 before I give it to them. I also put a small airstone in the solution and raise the DO level for an hour or so before feeding. Note adding DO raises the ph over time.

Couple more pics. 10 mega pixel will only let me load 2 at a time. Oh by the way the 1/4 tsp of floranova bloom is diluted. Just way easier to use that way.
