It IS possible it would be problematic. Someday I will give them a try. The sprayer is great for a nice even, slow, watering. Too slow though at times which is why I switched to the can. Exposing roots is a problem with both that the crater would not have and it looks to hold about a 1/2 gallon so I also wonder how slow they would be to drain.
