Water

So to all the people running hydroponic setups out there how many of you are using R/O water vs say distilled, spring, tap etc... What are your experiences good and bad with the different types of water.

I can't say my experience is definitive as of yet since I am still wet behind the ears. I did however switch over to R/O water today after reading all about PPM per various growth stages. My plants are sick and dying and either I root rotted them with a poor watering cycle before shortening it and / or have caused various nutrient problems with hard water and excessive nutrients / tap water in the reservoir when starting my attempt at hydroponics.

Anyone else have an experience with water?

I use RO exclusively!!!!! the balance is perfect.. a pain in the ass going o get it weekly but worth it in the end. when i check it with the ppm meter it never goes beyond 40ppm, my tap water is around 300ppm

I use tap water which is very alkaline 9.0ph and very hard 400ppm. Absolutely no problems though just adjust it accordingly. The purists on hear will tell you otherwise though.:joint:

without it you know nothing....i get mine from a thing in town called the water well it is 000ppm.i know exactly what there getting and if there using water are nutes with my oakton ppm meter.b4 i wasted alot of nutes and has taught me alot about plants which every strain is different.u can get by are should say wing it buy using ph buffered nutes and follow directions but would use a little less nutes than directions.b4 i had meters and ro water i never could get the great taste doing every thing the same as far as curing and such..good meters and good water makes GREAT PLANTS.

I use good ole tap water left sitting 24hrs min. PPM is 130...I use magical with every res change. I've only had a def. once...magical fixed it...so I keep using it.

if ya use tap water HYDROGAURD is a good idea....

No real need for me...I use plenty of other beni's and enzymes. I will say this though. I've had some nutes go bad on me before, and I used them anyway. Hydroguard prevented the constant ph increase from the bad bact. growing.

i have always used tap water with hydroguard sm90 and some horticultural grade h2o2 and never had problems but I recently switched to RO since I am growing some more difficult strains and i feel like it makes it a tad more precise but really it depends where you live.. if your local tap water is over 300 i would say you def need RO
