im trying to find info or a thread on weight loss after drying.

i have never done a "before & after" weight test with any harvests before and im wondering if anyone has documented logs on how much weight is lost in water weight after drying and curing and what the different numbers are with hydro compared to soil compared to coco based mediums and so on.

if anyone has documented this with at least 1 pound drying out, or even more detailed and relevant for what i need this info for, would be ounce for ounce, before and after, soil and hydro.

this info would be much appreaciated and anyone who has this stuff in memmory or in a log would be fucking cool as hell to share it with me and bricktown.

thanks... STAY GREEN!!!!!!! :peace:

It's been said that a bud loses approx 75% of its weight after drying. I've never tested this for myself though.

on the jorge video that i think you can find a link for on here or breedbay, he says that a good way to know if your herb is dryed is to weigh it at wetness and then jar it when it is 1/4 the weight. i'm paraphrasing but if you search for the jorge video, you can find out exactly. i think hydro loses more weight than soil from personal experience. really the best idea is to jar when your big stems snap and your small are still pliable, though. but i'm no expert just opinion

usually we have patience and wait till after the cure to see. i know i have NEVER weighed wet bud.

hydro produces more bud than soil but i personally think soil tastes better

i know its not the answer your looking for but i dont think your going to find precise numbers because every number is different. it depends on the grower/strain/medium,ect.

happy growing!:joint:

This depends on the method of curing used. Regular air curing, you'll lose about 65-75% of the weight. Water curing, you'll lose about 85% of the weight, but it's faster and it leaches out chlorophyll and makes for a smoother smoke.

werrrrd.. soil 4 the taste, hydro 4 the race.... i grow both for that reason. thanks for your input, except its not a patience thing, theres plenty now to go around. its just a friend of mine, and myself are both drying a harvest in the same room. thanks everyone:peace:

this is what I have found to be true as well.

here is a sample from my first harvest log

WET*DRY weight in grams

45 * 15
3.0 * 0.7
22.7 * 8.1
30.3 * 11
33 * 12
28.4 * 10.2

Approximately a 2/3 ratio, except that wet weight was taken with outer fan leaves and stems still attatched, and dry weight has them cut off before measurement..
