water temp problems

im using a tent and the temp inside it is always the same around 81~ but the problem is my water is the same tempurature. i just started adding hygrozyme to the water and i think its reacting with the water being that hot and making the water frothy on top and its getting a slight smell again. my question is what can i do to reduce the temps? can i get some foam insulation and spray it on the bucket and then run some thermal insulating tape around that will that be enough to keep the water temp in the 70s or even high 60's. im trying to avoid spending on a chiller

fill up water bottles with water and freeze them. that will help some. move reservoir to a cooler location. cool the tent down more.

the res is the bucket the plants are in i dont have a seperate one so i cant move it anywhere cooler, the tent is only 4 degrees above ambient with lights on but the problem with that is the room is 3-4 degrees above thermostat temp. might have to start freezing water bottles... hoping for something a little more permenant that isnt turning my house ac down to 70 ;/

they make chillers but they are expensive and they use alot of electricity. the biggest problem i have seen with pre built hydro systems is that they dont have remote reservoirs. i built everything myself with stuff i bought from home depot to solve the problem you have.

you could run a trickle of water through a coil of copper tubing in the resevoir and drain it to waste along with the heat it picks up, this is very efficient if you have the water. I cool a 100L resevoir this way to 65F in a 85F room

ive been readin a bit that copper isnt good to have in your res as it can toxify the water so maybe just change the material.. but id like to see your setup

I havent seen negative problems at all yet with my copper but i may change it in the future to make sure it doesnt cause anything, Maybe stainless tubing would be a better choice.

the tubing thing is a cool trick. it works because copper conducts heat well. thats why old cars had copper radiators. today's new cars use aluminum fror radiator so i would try that if copper is not safe.
