Water Pump Versus Air Pump?

I see that some kits come with a water pump and some come with an air pump for hydroponics is there a difference in performance here I believe they are both meant to do the same thing? Wondering if one is better to go with than another....also I was considering putting two 8" air stone in my 5Gal setup is this a bit too much?

one pumps air one pumps water... not the same, if its just an air pump its probably dwc where thats all you need a water pump can go ebb flow,nft, or areo but an air pump in the res is never a bad idea

air pumps keep your res oxygenated by blowing oxygen bubbles and nut solution splashes on the hydroton then sucked up by the roots ,water pump water your plant

i use both, 2 ft flexible airstone in the bottom, and a water pump to feed active drip on the top.. active dwc man its fucking awesome.

I am going to be doing 4 plants is there such a thing as over doing the the airstones I was going to put in 2 8" airstone my container is 16"L X 12" W X 9 1/2" H. Also I was planning on using a 400W HPS in my 24cubic foot dark room (24"W X 16"D X 51"H) anybody think I will have some issues burning plants is it too much? Should I step down to a 250W prices are the same on both...

You can only overdo the airstone if it starts foaming and frothing the nute mix.

Air pump in the resevoir on the aeroponic???? Is that what your saying?

get an air cooled reflector and duct fan for the 400 if u have it already if not get the 250

Haven't picked up the 400W yet was trying to hear some things back on here first and your the 2nd one to tell me to go with the 250 so I think im going to go that way and will do on the reflector....

got one in mine the more o2 in the water the less chance of rot and nasties but like said erlyer it can be over done

Hey the 250W HPS i am seeing around have the ballast built in and it looks to be a poor reflector while the 400W is $10 more or the same price in some cases and comes with the seperate ballast and a much better reflector is the 400W a big overkill because i would hate to get the 250W and have to turn to the 400W....

I got the 400 and was pissed that i had overkill for what i wanted. Lol, i was like wtf its an oven! But now i love it. I admiring the big nug that are thickening. Yur tent is small for a 400 i think but u have those million killer fan dont yu? U could get a vented hood and run for the 400. Dont blame me, lol, but worst comes to worse yu will in the end work on it and fig out to make it work. Idk but myself i been aawake all night and screaming power at the light i want more power because it sure will make waiting this long worth it. I nub too,

Get both shotgun the veg and the flower chamber, 15- 20 more bucks a month, hell with all the energy saving i put into effect after i got my hid i catually saved 25 frickin dollars on the next energy bill. I not Kidding!

Lol in a money world a couple months down the road id get both I think im gonna get the 250 sounds like it should be enough and I don't want to go crazy with temp control right now i have enough else to learn and worry about lol...I will make a decision today as I am going to be working on the venting plans and if I can make it mysterious enough i might be able to get a blower in there for the 400w hps...

Hey guys I picked up the Active Air (Hydro Farm) PU800 says its good for up to an 80Gal reservoir I will be running most likely a 10 Gal but I didn't want to get a piece of crap like a few warned on here...any thoughts on the unit..its submersible of course...Supposed to do 800 Gallons per hour...

Ah tru good just got done painting my resevoir my grow bin should be here today hopefully bang that out maybe get to the mister today...was there some place that i could buy a fogger??? Guess I should look back lol

get a vortex mister sprayer thats better than a fogger in my opinion...you can get it almost any hydro store where they sell the rainforest at.
