easiest way to now when it needs water is to wait until it starts to wilt "thou many people dont like doing that" but some prefer letting it dry out some what vs keeping it damp.

Pot size and then Plant size will determine how much water it needs daily but trial and error may serve you best.

Growers that allow their medium to dry out to the point at which the leaves "droop" are reducing their final yields and quality. The medium contains a certain amount of salts that dramatically increase in concentration as the water dissipates. The roots can be repeatedly stressed going through this technique called "wet/dry cycle". The plant is being deprived of moisture that would be available to fuel additional growth and suffers.

I usually dont have to water seedlings but evey 2-days. But thats outside. And as they get bigger they drink more. But dont water em too much because when they are young you want their roots to grow deeper in the dirt to dearch for their water. But if this is such a problem then it can be a good idea to get a gauge to stick in th the dirt that tells you if its wet, moist, or dry.
