Was thinking about starting a DWC grow

Was thinking about starting a DWC grow and want to know about PH.

When I first started to grow in soil, I had no idea about temps and just planted the seed and hoped for the best.

It worked fairly well, however, some people used to say that you need to keep an eye on your temps and humidity but i never.

Now, when it comes to DWC, do I need to get a PH meter/reader? If I need to can i be recommended one please :S

Also, would by biobizz nutes be ok? biobloom

Thanks

Yes, you do want a PH meter. Without it you'll just run into plenty of problems and when you go to figure out why everyones going to be asking you what PH you're at. Buy the General Hydro up/down solution that comes with the bottle of reader drops. Link to amazon for it here.

I just bought an electric ph reader, haven't used it yet because I need distilled water to clean it with. I'm thinking of just returning it though because it's going to cause me more of a hassle to get a cup of water, then let the meter sit in it, then take the meter out and clean it in distilled water and then you gotta recalibrate the unit every so often. Honestly it'll be a hell of a lot easier to keep doing what I'm doing and just get a little bit of water in the vile that comes with the test kit, drop two drops in it and see the color.

Can't answer the nutes question, I use General Hydro's three pack combo.

Read this for tons of info

Ok straight up save the bull shit buy this and your life is so simple, get ph 7.0 cabibration solution from the grow store and once a month calibrate your meter to 7.0 with the solution and your done for a month. Make sure the clear cap has a touch of water in it and store it vertical and zero issues

Keep ph 5.5-6.0 and your golden! 3rd grow im doing awesome and I have never had a flower grow right!
Btw I spent the dough on cyco platinum series and followed the feeding schedule that is in the box amd I have had NO ISSUES and im almost ready to harvest!

if you don't have your heart set on nutrients already I highly recommend Floranova as it has PH buffers and personally I havent used a drop of ph up or ph down in 4 grows. No guarentee but each grow was different house with different tap water and it was in healthy ph range every time. I take a mason jar full of my nutrient solution to my local grow shop when i happen to be going there and they test it for me for free. Theres nothing better then having a (good reliable) meter. A cheap one can give you misinformation when not calibrated correctly and that misinformation could cause more harm than just letting it be

And i would just like to ad that I've never had an unhappy plant with Floranova and I am currently running 5 strains on a modular DWC system all of them happily thriving with the same strength solution and i don't adjust ph AT ALL.

Do you just store your meter in tap water?

I bought the cheapest ph meter off amazon at less than $10. It stopped working after about half a year. So got another cheap one and some calibration solution. I never calibrate it or store it in a special way, just shake the water off it and it works every time for the past year.

You need to know what the ph is with dwc but you dont need an expensive meter. You can even get the drops that change color for real cheap.

You should keep the temps low so algea and stuff dont build up but ive noticed more problems with that from light and organic nutes than temps. Get black buckets or wrap some duct tape around buckets that let light in.
