I bought a high nitrogen plant food in pellet form n didnt read the instructions. It says mix in the top 3 inches of soil and dont reuse again in 6 months! Is this typical or did i get the wrong food?

Yeah that's normal. Traditional fertilizers are usually like that. Its your synthetics hydroponic nutrients that need to be applied weekly, which is fine in a closed hydroponic system, but very wasteful when your growing in the ground or in raised beds. I prefer slow releasing myself because it's less work and less likely to burn.

Thank you. I keep hearing about the importance of nutrients for the plants, etc. Im currently finished the fifth week, is it safe to say I should stick to water only til the 8th week when they begin the flowering phase?

Read your plants. If they are showing a deficiency of some sort, start feeding. Strains are all different. Some like heavy nutes, some fry when you give them a small amount.

Biggest mistakes I made on my first indoor grows was over feeding. If your plants are healthy and green, just keep doing what your doing now.

Thanks kgb, they seem vibrant actually after the feeding i gave them lastnight. How fast do they intake the food if its in pellet form? Maybe its in my head, lol
