One plant per pot only. In that space you could do 8 plants...SOG. Keep in mind though...that going from seed you will see variations...not only within the same strain...but between strains. One may grow tall...the other short. This can make things challenging on the lighting front.

The medium used is personal preference. Find a good mix with >>>no<<< chem nutrients in it. (No Miracle Blow, Vigoro, box store crap) A good nursery or grow store can usually steer you in the right direction. Foxfarm...Roots....A64....there are many brands out there.

Slow and steady is the name of the game. Go easy on the nutes once you start offering them. Less is often more in this hobby. You can always ADD but you cannot TAKE AWAY whatever it is you put on em. (thus, the reason to tell you to not buy pre-fertilized soils)

READ. Find a grow that mirrors what kind of grow you desire...and mirror it. If you look and pay close attention to their grows you will see the mistakes others have made and can avoid them.

Tape a little note on the wall of your room that says "Patience is a Virtue".....and look at it frequently. Patience and TIMING is key in this game. You can't speed things up with fertilizers/tricks/etc.

Set everything up...and do a few days of dry run......no plants. Check temps, timers, ventilation/etc. before adding the plants to the mix.

best of luck

I also am doing my First AUTO Grow, I am expierienced in Photo's though as i have some time under my belt,

I Always recomend with any plant to rather LST then TOP or FIMM, especially in AUTO's, you will need to train somehow to increase your yield, and it is better in my opinion to train in a stress free painless way, Also AUTO's as you may know have limited life span so its better to not cut into the life by Cutting it, Instead LST and tuck Fan Leaves away from lower tops, and you will have the same if not more Tops/Main Colas than if you TOP'd her.

Happy Growing

I've never done auto's and was told the other day that auto's need to go directly into their final pot after germination. I was surprised when I heard that, I never read much about auto's. Is the reason because they have a limited life span?

I ran into that problem recently with my autos. I have them in 1.5gal Pots and a couple in 3Gal, I heavily LST so their all the same height and all have the same amount of growth, I dont know how much they stretch in flowering or do it gradualy, so i am going to bite the bullet and keep them in their 1.5Gal because im going into week 5 and dont want to take the chance of shocking them, Next time i will start all them in the 3Gal Pots,

To answer your Queston Yes, Their limited life span plays a big role into how you grow Autos, if it takes a week to rebound from a TOPPING or a Bad Transplant, then theoretically that is a week off of its 10ish week Life span, wich dramatically effects yields,
Now you can do a successful transplant and cause no harm whatsoever but accidents do happen,

no plant likes to be transplanted during its flowering stage.
likely transplanters doing it during the early flowering of the auto.
