Hi everyone. I've been trolling for a while now and think I'm starting to get the hang of this. I would like you’re help in figuring out my setup. I want to get a pattern together that will allow me to have plants at different stages of development a month or two months apart.

I have a $2500 budget

I have a spare bedroom I will use as a grow room dimensions 144x96x96. The room has 2 doors a window and hardwood floors. The window will be covered and used for ventilation. One door will be sealed. I will erect a tent to contain my environment.

Tent: 600D Reflective Mylar Hydroponic Plant Grow Room Tent 118x60x79 Large Window Hut

Strain: I bought a total of 5 strains all feminized. Reserva Privada Sour Kush AKA Headband, Reserva Privada OG Kush #18, Delicious seeds Cotton Candy, Iced Grapefruit, Eva seeds Jamaican Dream

Growing style: RDWC Waterfarm 8 pack with the recirculating kit and the mods suggested by the grasscity mod thread.

Methods: I am interested in Super Cropping, and SCROG

Medium: Hydroton after paper towel germination

Lights: I don’t know what type of light setup to get. At my local grow shop I was advised to get 2x1000w. That seems bigger then most people’s setup. Why? Isnt more light better? Or is it because of energy consumption.

Ballasts:Solis-Tek MATRIX 1000W MH/HPS Dimmable LCD Remote Control Ballast w/ built-in Timer

Nutes: I Don’t Know
Additivies: I Don’t Know, drip clean
Distilled Water

Ventilation Tube: Dundas Jafine AF625ULPZW Aluminum Foil UL Listed and Marked Duct, 6-Inches by 25-Feet

Fan-8" HO HIGH OUTPUT EXHAUST FAN 8 INCH 737 CFM

Carbon Air Filter-Can 100 840 CFM
Air Pump and 8x air stones
Light Timer
PPM/PH Monitor
Thermometer

What am I missing? Any suggestions?

why not just dual arc lamps?

Do I need a chiller? What size for waterfarm 8 pack with recirculation?

Does 2x1000w lights sound right?

I think you're missing money. Seriously. I spent an easy 3k on my 2x4x8 closet

I thought I'd be ok with 1500

op, nice choice on the solis tek ballast, especially the matrix. the only lamp I recommend is hortilux super hps for flower. veg who cares really. I've recently been told that 1000 watt lamps produce too much light for plants, I was told this by a guy who works for a lamp manufacturer and claimed to a "scientist" . anything more than 5000 footcandles (can be pushed to 7000 indoors) causes photo-inhibition stopping photosynthesis. So in order to stay in that range you have to back the 1000 watt lamp off a couple feet making it more like 250 watt of useable energy. you should go with 600 watt lamps. Hortilux super hps and mix it up with something if you like but the 2x600 super hps will do the trick.

when you figure the two solis tek ballasts alone come to 6 bills that's a nice chunk right there. two hoods about the same.

may as well have a lightrail mover too, that will mean you need a tent kit . bluelab ppm/temp/ph meters. personally you can keep the waterfarm, I like my ebb monster.

dual arc bulbs r an option as well 600 watts are the way ass well. however to save mopney from buying 4 600w ballast which woyuld have a great signature and also having the space for them to be place. so 2 1000w with a spliter wouyld help[ u with your budget

1. I could do a light mover but how does that change how many lamps you run?

2. Do you run to light movers in one tent?

3. Moving down to 600w lights will mean 600w ballasts right?

4. 3000 was my budget. I am willing to spend what is needed for a "good system"

hows that splitter work? I've seen one made by sunpulse(the same place that told me 1000 watt lamps are too much for living things) but thought it was exclusive to magnetic ballasts.

1. doesn't change the number of lamps you run, changes the coverage of light.
2. you say the tent is 10 by 5, I think one reflector will cover a 4by4 area , a mover is gonna cover any dark areas (I was just half assed joking about the mover but it may not be a bad idea, will certainly increase your cost )
3. the cool thing about solis-tek matrix ballasts is they are like 6 ballasts in one (if you count hps and mh) , you can put any wattage lamp in you like and it will power it up at the correct wattage.
4. 3k may do your initial investment but there will be expense after that and sometimes things that come up aren't real cheap to fix.

yea u r right with the sunpulse and the splitter u got the right info . the number of lamps depend on the size room for a 10x5 i would get a magnetic ballst 1x 1000the sunlulse spliter magnum xl each magnum would runn a 600 w bulb with the splitter and since a 600w covers a 4x4 the edges can have supplemntal lighting are it can be your working area
