Wadda ya expect ... Bush is an Oil Man.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL
by Ann Coulter
July 16, 2008

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, or as she is called on the Big Dogs blog, "the worst speaker in the history of Congress," explained the cause of high oil prices back in 2006: "We have two oilmen in the White House. The logical follow-up from that is $3-a-gallon gasoline. It is no accident. It is a cause and effect. A cause and effect."

Yes, that would explain why the price of oral sex, cigars and Hustler magazine skyrocketed during the Clinton years. Also, I note that Speaker Pelosi is a hotelier ... and the price of a hotel room in New York is $1,000 a night! I think she might be onto something.

Is that why a barrel of oil costs mere pennies in all those other countries in the world that are not run by "oilmen"? Wait -- it doesn't cost pennies to them? That's weird.

In response to the 2003 blackout throughout the Northeast U.S. and parts of Canada, Pelosi blamed: "President Bush and Rep. Tom DeLay's oil-company interests." The blackout was a failure of humans operating electric power; it had nothing to do with oil. And I'm not even "an oilman."

But yes -- good point: What a disaster having people in government who haven't spent their entire lives in politics! That explains everything. A government official with relevant experience or knowledge about an issue is obviously a crisis of gargantuan proportions.

This must be why the Democrats are nominating B. Hussein Obama, who finished middle school three days ago and has less experience than a person one might choose at random from the audience of "American Idol."

Announcing the Democrats' bold new "plan" on energy last week, Pelosi said breaking into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve "is one alternative." That's not an energy plan. It's using what we already have -- much like "conservation," which is also part of the Democrats' plan.

Conservation, efficiency and using oil we hold in reserve for emergencies does not get us more energy. It's as if we were running out of food and the Democrats were telling us: "Just eat a little less every day." Great! We'll die a little more slowly. That's not what we call a "plan." We need more energy, not a plan for a slower death.

But there's more! Pelosi announced that the Democrats also plan to push for "an historic investment in biofuels, efficiency, conservation and the rest." The "rest" is apparently what she called our "important and essential" investment in alternative energy.

That certainly would be historic: We would make history by throwing our money away on unproven energy boondoggles that have eaten up untold billions since the 1960s without producing a single net kilowatt of power while we all starve to death.

The proposal to use energy sources that don't yet produce any energy is like the old New Yorker cartoon with Obama in Muslim garb -- no wait, that was a different cartoon. The cartoon is: A scientist has written out his extremely complicated theory on a blackboard and is showing it to another scientist. The theory consists of numbers and characters and takes up the entire blackboard. About two-thirds of the way across, reading left to right, appear the words, "then a miracle happens," followed by more numbers and characters.

That's the Democrats' plan to run cars on biofuels, solar and wind power: Then a miracle happens. The current Democratic mantra on energy is: "We can't drill our way out of this problem." Apparently their plan is to talk our way out of this problem.

Democrats are also alleging that the oil companies are sitting on millions of acres of oil but are refusing to drill -- presumably because oil company executives hate the American people and perversely don't want to make money. Manifestly, those acres are being explored for oil or have already come up dry.

If the Democrats really wanted oil companies to find more oil, they'd allow oil companies to drill offshore and to drill in ANWR, which we happen to know is bursting with oil.

But they don't. They don't want drilling. They don't want more oil. They want humans to ride bicycles and then to die. We deserve it: We were mean to the polar bears.

It's good to know that in the middle of a crisis, the Democrats are still liars. As long as we're fantasizing about "alternative" energy sources, what we really need is a car that runs on Democrats' lies.

If there called conservatives why don't they care about conserving nature??? What a great idea let's just keep drilling for oil because we all know that there is a unlimited supply of that...wait there isn't is there. God all mighty when will conservatives start caring about other things then themselves. Obviously you understand that there is a limited supply off oil yet they continue to put that at the back of there head. What's gonna happen 10-50 years down the road. Why don't we start really investing and really pushing for a renewable and eco-friendly fuel source but no lets just continue to rape the earth because we all know that humans are the only thing that matter. Who really cares about nature right? We all just need to light up a j and start caring a little bit about others and what our actions mean for the future.

Peace

P.S.

B. Hussein Obama, haha republicans still can't get over the fact that his middle name is Hussein. lol I can't wait to see what Ann Coulter will do when he is the president. What is she 5? hahahahaha

.....What's gonna happen 10-50 years down the road.
in case you haven't been paying attention to the world around you, every industrialized nation is dependent on oil. the first thing that happens as a nation starts to develop is that its oil usage increases and, as you have pointed out, oil is a finite resource. now it would be just great if we had some immediate cure all for our oil dependence, but any alternative we have is decades away from the point where it could come into common usage. for those intervening decades we are going to be using oil, so it only seems prudent to secure a source for our nation.

you ask, "what about 50 years down the road". well, by investing in alternatives we may be able to wean our society from oil over the next half century. it ain't gonna happen overnight. though the well to do may be able to afford hybrids and other alternatives as they are available, they are beyond the reach of those with tighter budgets. over time we can hope to switch energy sources, but for now all we can do is try to hold down oil prices and keep on investigating alternatives. of course, the best way to hold down those prices is to become independent of those countries for whom oil is their major source of revenue.

.....lets just continue to rape the earth because we all know that humans are the only thing that matter. Who really cares about nature right?
for decades we have been satisfied to dirty up other parts of the world in order to attain our oil. now it's time to use our own resources instead of hypocritically having other nations do our dirty work for us. drilling for oil is a great deal cleaner than it was in the past and there is no reason that it can't be cleaner still. the idea that using natures resources is akin to rape is a childish notion whose time has passed. we have the technology to mitigate the damage we do to the environment and to repair what damage we may do, we need only apply ourselves to the problem and make sure that the oil companies do the same. this is not to say that there will never be accidents, but we are capable of extracting the resources we need from nature without leaving a wasteland in our wake.

finally; you're damn right humans are first on our list of responsibilities. it's called survival of the species and only an idiot ignores that imperative. humans are unique in that we have the capacity to understand that our present actions have future consequences and, as such, we have a further responsibility to the well being of future generations. wanton destruction does us and our descendants no good and, as the self-styled caretakers of this world, we do have an obligation to our environment. this doesn't mean that we should do without or adopt a more primitive lifestyle so that every other creature is secure. some species die out to make way for more successful species. that is the way that nature has always been and, try as we might, we cannot deny the inevitable. we can only try and avoid unnecessary destruction.

Funny thing is, George W Bush was a dismal failure as an oil man. The Family has been making the bulk of their money from Pharmaceutical companies since the 1920's.
Look it up if you have a copy of The Emperor wears No Cloths by Jack Herer.

I hate Ann coulter!(sneaks out of the room again)
people who refuse to listen to those they disagree with or even despise are asking to remain ignorant. even if it's just to find out what the enemy is up to, listening to both sides of the story is always beneficial. i despise fools like rush limbaugh, finding them mostly self-serving egomaniacs, and would listen to them only to waste time as i rushed between jobs. one day i found myself actually agreeing with something he had to say and was astounded. though i seldom find myself in agreement with the views of these right wing ideologues, i no longer ignore their rants as nothing but noxious vapors seeking release. i know that even a fool may sometimes find a profound word or two to say.

OOOOH... they caught me...Well, I haven't found anything profound from Ann Coulter. Most of the things she says are just personal attacks and outright lies. But, anyway, I was just trying to inject humor into the political forum.

Hey Stoney ...

This is the political forum. This is the place where you have to prove your premises. So now, with that said ... state the lies told by Coulter.

Thanks ...

oh no, does this mean i'm going to be kicked out? i offer little proof but common sense, i never post links to supposedly verifiable sites and i claim nothing i say to be any more than informed opinion. in the political arena, appearance has become all important and true intent is usually shrouded by misdirection and a bit of fancy footwork. any proof is suspect.

Well said, when cornered, Vi runs and hides with the best of them. I contend this to be an opinion forum. If you want facts get an encyclopedia. If you post something that has a link, then post the link but opinion will always be acceptable in my humble opinion. Look at Undertheice, he shows no proof but has strong opinions. They can't all be right but he is entitled to them, actually, he is a much more rounded individual than VI. So don't worry, If they start making you show proof for your opinion, this forum would fall apart,~LOL~.

I call bullshit on ya. If your opinon was "informed," you would be able to state where Ann Coulter lies. Based upon your statements, you should be able to post a whole string of Coulter lies.

And don't listen to Med. He's a Commie.

i don't think i said anything about coulter. though i do believe that most media whores use more half-truth and innuendo than actual fact, i seldom go so far as to call anyone an out and out liar. i firmly believe that everyone should be carefully listened to, only then can you make a rational decision as to their veracity. i don't doubt that her diatribes are the usual mixture of agenda driven rhetoric, fact and partisan distortion found in most political commentary, whether it originates from the right or the left.
